Nope! I ain’t that babalu. It’s a nickname I got from a bargirl in Olongapo way back around 1961 or so.

At first I didn’t know the Babalu blog existed (in fact, there were two other guys using the name at the time) back in the mid 90s or so, and I blogmented in several places using that tag.

Shifted to Eros Total a few years ago. Then sorta quit commenting altogether, sensing addiction onset ’cause I was goin to 9 or 10 sites every day and engaging in comment warfare. Limit myself today to a small but stimulating chat group, grouchyoldcripple, C & S, and here. Thassenuf.

Bocopro, just trying to connect the links here. Are you saying you posted articles to Babblu Blog & e.t. or you are them?
I only ask because after 4 years stationed in Miami I didn’t discover Steve G’s web site until I had left there, that eventually brought me here to the porch. And this is where I felt I finally found a blogging home.
Sure wish I had discovered the Hog on Ice site when I was there.
I really would liked to have met Steve and Val in person.
Steve was the first blogger I ever started to read.

Words are my forte. I like to see ‘em dance around, pirouette, glide, and occasionally slip into a bump ‘n’ grind. Some guys build boats in their garages and birdhouses in their basements, then nobody rides in the boats and no birds live in the houses. I write articles and essays, and nobody reads ‘em.

In other incarnations (babalu and eros total), I often dropped off my children here and other places, but this venue is for one-liners, epithets, and aphorisms, not dissertations, so I put the wordmobile in the storage and broke out the Schwinn.

Although I’m basically ambivalent toward use of large amounts of taxpayer money to fund pyrotechnic displays and their aftermath, I have no use for bunko artists who create a problem where none existed merely so that they can offer solutions to it and largely profit from their ostensibly noble community service.

What this envirothug is doing is a first cousin of that stratagem. It’s Algorish to scream “The sky is falling! The sky is falling!” simply for personal monetary gain. Perhaps if we hadn’t abolished the use of stocks and pillories, we’d have less of that sort of flim-flammery and gorging at the public trough.

A society with no sense of its own past, with no traditions, no heroes, has no future.
