mech – I fear they will steal our 401k’s and IRA’s and offer some crappy annuity in inflated dollars, about like the return on our social security ‘investment’. That might be a tipping point where the Tea Pot boils over.

Looks like not only did the US loose 13% of the above $200k taxpayers, but the remainder must have made signifcantly less then they did before since the revenue from that group dropped 29%.

Maybe that was all the folks holding back to make sure they did not make Obama’s $250k and above club.

I am in favor of no taxes on capital gains. For one thing, winners are already taxed by the government’s intentional policy of inflation. For another, the taxes we collect for gains are somewhat offset by deductions for loses: our policy is to punish people who create wealth and reward those who squander it. Why subsidize bad investments?

Capital gain tax collections are high in good times and low in bad times which is just the opposite of the government’s need for revenues.

So much for the “rich get richer” platitudes.

Also, this is likely worse now than in 2009.

Also, Sen. Frank Lautenberg (Dipshit – NJ) (as has been mentioned since this post) has admitted this is deliberate.

You can’t eat the rich and have them, too to tax.

How about removing a dozen federal agencies from the capital district. Send the dept of agiculture to Des Moines, the dept of transportation to Detroit, etc. Seperate the ruling elite and force them to live among the populace. That should shake things up a bit.
