“Stupid people are ruinin’ America.*

Cain had his round of the Sunday shows yesterday since he’s leading in all the polls. What a great opportunity to explain his 999 Plan, expound on his ideas, plans and abilities.

But…

He got caught in the oldest MSM trap: the quotable sound bite. The Question of the Day put to Cain was about a danged rock at Perry’s parents’ leased hunting camp two decades ago.

And now the only sound bite of Cain will be that one calling Perry “racially inseeeensitive.” And that’s the clip we’ll hear aaaaall day long.

[/Cain] “Who? Oh, yeah — that black guy. He was offended. …or something.”

Christiane Amanpour: “On the front page of the Washington Post today, there’s a story about Rick Perry and a hunting lodge that belonged to his family bought in the 1980s. And on a rock, apparently, near the entrance there, there is a word that is a very ugly, a racial word, a slur.”

Herman Cain: “My reaction is that is very insensitive. There are some words that do not basically inspire the kind of negativity like that particular word. And I know that you are refraining from saying that word, so I’m going to say what the word was on the rock. The name of the place was called “Niggerhead.” That is very insensitive. And since Governor Perry has been going there for years to hunt, I think that it shows a lack of sensitivity for a long time of not taking that word off of that rock and renaming the place. It’s just basically a case of insensitivity.”

Whaaaa? Were you being …courageous? …edgy? WTF?!?

And now no-one [who doesn't obsessively follow politix] will ever hear whatinhell the 999 plan was about. Rookie mistake.

For Balance, Perry’s response:

Perry told the Post that the word on the rock is an “offensive name that has no place in the modern world.”

“My mother and father went to the lease and painted the rock in either 1983 or 1984,” Perry told the newspaper in a written response to questions. “This occurred after I paid a visit to the property with a friend and saw the rock with the offensive word.

“After my visit I called my folks and mentioned it to them, and they painted it over during their next visit.”

This is a hunting lease. Property leased for a particular period of time only for the purpose of hunting; it’s not like a “rental.” The property does not belong to Perry nor his parents. Yet they still took the initiative to paint over someone else’s property because they thought it inappropriate.

Yes, that word is used to this day. Unfortunately. But this is a tenuous connection to Perry at best. And ought to have gone away after a brief MSM self-indulgence flurry. But now it won’t and Cain has managed to tar himself with it.

And the “centrist” media is trying to torpedo who they view as the front runner for the Republican party any way they can. Like George Allen’s “macaca” comment fiasco, they oh so niggardly clamp on to a non-issue and blow it way out of proportion to get their candidate in office.

I suspect Cain was unaware that it was not his property to alter in the first place.

He assumed it was either owned outright, or a rented/leased property.

People who don’t live in Texas don’t understand how hunting leases work. You pay the landowner ( who owns the game there, lock, stock, and antlers ) for permission to hunt. They have only one small over-used National Forest for public hunting.

Texas does not have this “game animals belong to the State” nonsense.

If Cain had been paying attention, he could have asked enough questions about the question to make the reporter look like a bumbling idiot. He missed an opportunity and it reflects heavily on his qualifications.

I’m not giving up on him yet. Maybe he’ll see the error he made and walk it back.

Yeah, it was the wrong call, but don’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good. Man’s got a good head on his shoulders, and even the best of us step on our crank now and then.

I read about niggerhead on the innertoob yesterday. Buy sunset, I read several blogs that confirmed in detail all the background on Perry/hunting lease/painted over/etc, etc…

Fishwrapper & Boobtube Alfalfas are ALWAYS a minimum of a day or waaay more in publishing a story`s full details. WHICH is WHY they are they are the modern analogy of the Neanderthal`s extinction, with the added distinction of almost 100% addiction to a mfcs effort to outdo the former Soviet Union`s PRAVDA!

I can say with certainty that every KisPer knows that *Alfalfa`s* news coverage of Politics will bear no resemblence of “The Fourth Estate`s” original mission of being the arbitor of truth for the People, especially campaign reporting.

Herman Cain gooned it. He should have replied to the question like this: “Why do I suddenly have an image of us under a street lamp late at night in a seedy part of town and your question having something to do with ‘Around the World and $20 dollars?”

Fabulous! I’d pay theater admission prices to see that put on Amanpour.

Perry was a Democrat when it happened. So was his father (as a county supervisor and schoolboard member). Perry saw the light and became a Republican. This one is easy, folks, because Democrats are too stupid to do the legwork.

The moral of the story is “Don’t be a stupid racist Democrat.”

So Perry painted over a rock because it was offensive but Obama sat through “GOD DAMN AMERICA” for 20 years and that was not offensive.

Guess that means Perry isn’t blind but Obama is deaf.

Perry had Democrats for friends (he was one for many years) but Obama had COP KILLER/TERRORIST for friends (but who cares, right?)

Perry released his grades from A&M, even though they were not real good. Obama never has released his.

    Some contrast!

Cain wasn’t paying attention when Newt said the media just wanted to get the Republicans fighting amongst themselves. He should have learned from the “police acted stupidly” comment Bambi made. Don’t say anything until you know all of the facts.

  25. Posted October 4, 2011 at 5:27 am |

Just because they ask doesn’t mean you have to answer.

We could ALL benefit from occasionally saying “That is not what I am here to talk about” now and then.
