stuff that’s hard to do (cont’d)

A secretive unmanned space plane is staying in orbit a little longer. The experimental Air Force craft has been circling Earth for about nine months. The X-37B orbital test vehicle was due to land in California this week, but the Air Force said Tuesday that the mission will be extended. A landing date has not been set.

The plane resembles a mini space shuttle and is the second to fly in space. The first one landed itself last December at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California after more than seven months in orbit. [more]

“Extended” as in “they can’t get it down?”
Just sayin’ … in a been-there-almost-done-that kind’a way.

Can you say “High-Resolution Synthetic Aperture RADAR”?

I think they can get it down OK – maybe even all in one piece – but there’s still a lot of neat things we need to have some good pix of.

They just don’t want to admit they lost the luggage flying through Atlanta.

If there is anything interesting to look at & get a record of, it would be Iran`s sploded nuke and missile facilities. (…or—-to get a night pitcher of Europe, looking like North Korea…)

    You got it:

    Missile base explosion

The Iranians say it was an accident – “neither the Mossad nor the CIA are capable” of being behind the blast.

I wonder how they explain the 6 or so top Iranian nuclear scientists who have met with unfortunate fatal accidents over the last year or so.

    This one’s even better:

    ‘Extensively Damaged’ Iranian Missile Site

“Another explosion was reported on Monday in Isfahan, which houses another key Iranian nuclear facility. The cause of that incident is not immediately clear.”

Gremlins. The making of things that go BOOM in a really big way has always been a bit tricky.

There does seem to be some circumstantial evidence (but only the most dedicated conspiricist would believe it): Iran claims to be making missiles that can carry WMDs to Israel, and shortly after, their missile factory goes up in smoke.

You just can’t beat dumb luck.

What if it’s not merely taking pictures of the blown up stuff?

I was gonna make a smart-ass comment about the thing being the wrong design for Moslem out-reach, but it seems sort of unnecessary now.

But speaking of Iran’s splodey problems of late, Michael Ledeen has a different theory. He figures it’s all internal, with the domestic opposition getting more and more deserters and higher-ups willing to commit actual sabotage to hasten the end of the regime. Now that would be nice if it were true.

Random thought keeps popping into Almondinnerjacket`s pea-brain: “Before I give the order to *fire* a ballistic missile, armed w a nuc head, I need to visit my cousin on Easter Island —–an——make the fone call from there….”.
