Government is an organization of people from the general population who were hired to make decisions that the people of the general population are incompetent to make.

Government, itself, doesn’t actually exist. Try to find it. Try to see it. Try to get to the top, most responsible part of it.
    You can’t.
Sure it has many attributes of existence but you can never get to it’s core.
Government is a system to allow certain people to control other people.

Government is SUPPOSED to be a Social Contract for how we behave in relation to each other. We agree to accept various limitations on our selves for the good of the whole.

Our original agreement (when we were just about all Christians with a common morality governed by Faith) was that each of us was free to do pretty much what we though “meet & right”, with 10 exceptions.

Today, a majority of us are interfering old maid aunts who want all of us to “play nice”.

(…I think it’s a function of giving women the vote…)

In it’s strictest sense, a body of individuals who weild power over their people, in the idea that it’s for the greater good of the whole of the people.

    In practice…. not so much.

Ours was the first time men sat down and with a clean piece of paper, drew up a set of governing principles.. not bad, that the document has served us as well as it has. Over time it’s been adjusted through amendments, again serving us well.

The problem is that once people began to covet comfort more than freedom, corrupt individuals came along to subvert the intent of our governing principles. When we stopped being a collection of communities, where people cared for each other on an individual basis, and began to choose the lazy option of having the government do the hard things of community, like charity and compassion.

People got lazy, demanding through fiat what they couldn’t earn on their own, or wouldn’t. That opens the door to corruption. When a government, especially ours, which was founded on liberty,.. and,…. responsibility loses the will to do the hard things we either relearn those skills, or we cease to be America as we knew her.

Government. A system of legalized hypocrisy, lies, waste, and embezzlement. An parasitical ol’ boys’ club comprised of ordinary people with no particular skills in leadership and management, only a remarkable talent for acquiring and holding power.

Most governments set themselves up so that its members are above the reach of the very laws they compose and enact. The truth is that if your neighbors conducted themselves the way your government does, you’d call the cops.

As Reagan so astutely observed, the nine most terrifying words in the English language are, “I’m from the government and I’m here to help.”

Most members of the Senate and House enter into national politics with the noblest of motives and the highest of ethics. Their intention is to descend into the sewer of Washington politics and clean it up. However, once they’ve tasted the nectar of power, frolicked in the spotlight of public attention, and become addicted to the ever-flowing teat of free money, they go down to the sewer only to dine and bathe.

Under most forms of government, the citizenry exists only to give the government someone to bother.

People. Yup. People who think because they are in government, they are smarter than we others and therefore are ordained to micromanage our lives. I do believe the majority of people in government feel that way to one degree or another, or else are too lazy to compete and seek out government jobs where the non-performance of drone duties is not cause for firing.

Government. (n.) A system by which a community, state or nation is governed.

    Government employees are all gowks. (…Gowk (n.) 1. a foolish person. 2. a cuckoo.

Thomas Jefferson indirectly defined government when he said, “Rightful libery is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add ‘within the limits of law’ because law is often but the tyrant`s will, and always so when it violates the rights of the individual.”

“Everyone wants to live at the expense of the state. They forget that the state wants to live at the expense of everyone.”

“Life, liberty, and property do not exist because men have made laws. On the contrary, it was the fact that life, liberty, and property existed beforehand that caused men to make laws in the first place.”

“Sometimes the law defends plunder and participates in it. Sometimes the law places the whole apparatus of judges, police, prisons and gendarmes at the service of the plunderers, and treats the victim – when he defends himself – as a criminal.”

“The state is the great fictitious entity by which everyone seeks to live at the expense of everyone else.”

    - Frederic Bastiat

Government is an armed organization which claims for itself the moral and ethical right to use coercion to accomplish its changing objectives. Organized crime does the same thing, but without the moralizing.

Government is what happens when mans desire for control over others is augmented by the greed and selfish nature of fools who are too lazy to do things on their own, and thus allow the former to control the lives of the latter.

Might even work out decently if humans didn’t have pure evil at the core of their hearts due to sin.

What is? or Who is? If it’s Who is it’s the tax payer. What is takes the Who is money so they can rule the Who is. Who is has to get off their asses and stop the What is.

The government is the instrument used by the elite to bring about their version of a secular utopia (see “immanentize the eschaton”).
