Hugh Hewitt has suggested that team Romney needs to come up with a little broom pin to wear.

http://www.hughhewitt.com/blog/g/dc273fe3-c689-442c-b908-cdaa7a485224

I'd take if further. Some concentrated TV advertising (plus youtube of course) about sweeping out the government to make sure those not paying attention know what it's about, bumper stickers that just say something like "Romney: 2012" and a broom.

Operatives and PACs could start referring to him as "Mitt 'The Broom' Romney." Cleaning out Washington usually plays well with voters in years where things aren't going well, and this is such a year on steroids.

Also the broom is something that could be leveraged well into congressional and senate races. "I'm so-and-so and I want to go help sweep out Washington."

The way things are going, this could be a major popular movement by November.

(I'm also thinking of demonstrations where ordinary folk turn out waving brooms instead of pitchforks and torches. Though of course things could go badly if the all too prevalent union thugs show up and the brooms start to fly. Hmmm.....)

It's just a case of being replaced at your job. Since the inception of the secret service; these gung ho men ran around screaming.. I must save the president and jump in front of speeding bullets.
Now 99% of the media do it for nothing.

Doug (4): yep, that must have been it. An understandable misunderstanding.

"Cartagena didn't benefit one cent from President Obama's visit. All people remember are that the Secret Service agents slept with our prostitutes," said a man who works in the neighborhood.
Now Cartagena has a Clintonian legacy.

Actually, the big story here is that throughout really important US field agencies tradecraft has fallen into frequent and widespread disregard, and nothing is taken seriously. It's not just Secret Service agents (management?) revealing their identities and giving potential foreign operatives access to rather critical documents. I've forgotten how many middle east assets the CIA has lost ("lost" means "dead," and likely their families too) to hostile counter intelligence through a complete disregard to tradecraft in just the last couple of years.

Won't even start about the other agencies, nor how much the Clinton Justice Dept compromised the Witsec program (and much else).

It seems to get worse with each administration. We need a "not business as usual" administration with a serious viewpoint, the stones to clean things up (yes, that means some people will be looking for jobs), and a congress that will back up that administration.

“we’re here to protect him.”

I think that was a mis-translation of, "Yes, I wear protection."
