“Neighborhood Watch” will now be known as just “The Watch.”
Fox said Friday that the name of the film starring Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn as suburban neighborhood watch volunteers who uncover an extraterrestrial plot was changed in light of the shooting of an unarmed black teenager in Florida.
“As the subject matter of this alien invasion comedy bears no relation whatsoever to the recent tragic events in Florida, the studio altered the title to avoid any accidental or unintended misimpression that it might,”…

The actor formerly known as Steve Urkel is currently hosting a little reality show on SyFy called “Total Blackout.”
Last week, contestants had to go into a dark room and identify someone’s butt*, just by smell alone. Hooray for television channels celebrating speculative fiction!

Ben and Vince are OK, but Edgar and Johnny are a whole lot more interesting. I mean, what you rather do, watch a predictable, formulaic film with maybe 3 decent jokes, or listen to the Winters boys raise holy hell.
What’s so special or speculative about that? Any self-respecting dog can do it, provided the President doesn’t eat him first.
Ben Stiller: hmmm…. I think I’ve had about enough of him for quite a while anyway. So maybe I’ll just skip the whole thing.
Title change: well Hollywood is predictably politically correct & sensitive, if nothing else. So no surprises there. The real question is whether the big fall off they’ve had in movie sales is really all due to piracy or if there’s actually quite a bit of people just plain loosing interest in the “products” and the attitudes they portray in them.
