Islamic Rage Boy unfazed

Members of Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb have desecrated a Muslim saint’s tomb in the fabled city of Timbuktu, an official said on Saturday.

“Members of AQIM, supported by (the armed Islamist group) Ansar Dine, have destroyed the tomb of Saint Sidi (Mahmoud Ben) Amar. They set fire to the tomb,” the official told AFP on condition of anonymity, adding that they had pledged to destroy others too.

Timbuktu, a UNESCO World Heritage site and cradle of Islamic learning, has been under the control of AQIM and Ansar Dine since the groups took advantage of a March 22 coup to take control of northern Mali.

    “Tim and me, a-huntin’ went.
Met three whores in a pop-up tent.
They was three, we was two,
So I bucked one and Timbuktu.”

Timbuktu *was* an ancient & majestic city, but by mid-1800`s became a hovel of mud huts that made Tombstone, AZ look like an urban paradise! [...was a good subject for many movies in the 20`s & 30`s....]

Next, they’re going to demonstrate the ballistics of an AK-47 round as it travels through their feet.

They may be in shock, but I am not.

Al Queda pretty much brings misery and destruction wherever it goes, including into Moslem places.

There’s a school of though that Islam is self-destructing, and that current “radical” Islam is a symptom of this. I’m not sure I’d go that far, but it is something to think about.

By the way, if they want to talk about “unspeakable acts,” then I’d like to talk about the destruction of the World Trade Center and the lives of 3,000 innocent people, which in my view is considerably more important that the destruction of their tomb (presumably with already dead people) by murderous assholes whom they have chosen to tolerate being in their country.

Reminds me of a pal of mine when I was a kid.
We walked to school together, and he’d often break into humsong,
“Timbuktu, eyes ‘a blue. da da da da dada da” (that’s it, no follow-on)
Boy wasn’t always ready for promotion to the next grade, if’n y’get my drift.

    MCPO,

I love that song… but I modified it a bit as I’m more for love that hate.

And when you’ve taken down your guard
If I could change your mind
I’d really love to mend your heart
I’d really love to mend your heart

And yes, there are things in this world I can do without!
