Well, if it were a German saying “today Europe, tomorrow the world” I’d be a little more worried about that gradulous little fascist. (But isn’t that what they called Hitler in 1928? Ok, never mind.)
But my point here isn’t the perils of a fascist Grease Greece. (Which, by the way, those jackasses still haven’t figured out how to pay for the non-”austerity” they think they want.)
It’s what ultimately happens when a country (or countries) gets itself in sufficiently insoluble difficulties — especially economic ones. Like the German republic in the 1920s. Like Greece (and others) today. Like the USA with about 10 or so more years of the current nonsense. It isn’t the socialists we will fear in the long run, since they couldn’t manage their way out of a wet economic bag with a hole in it. The real fear will come with whoever promises to “save our nation” once the socialists have totally fucked everything up, and lots of our citizens are starving in the dark.
With our courts and political institutions being the obvious cause, where will we turn? Who will we follow then, and what will they do?
Martial law. The constitution suspended. Then with every member of the NEA in “reeducation camps” (irony there), federal judges under arrest (more irony), and Democratic money people’s wealth confiscated, what will happen next? The national guard shooting every “aggrieved” rioter in the streets. Intellectual dissent treated as treason… because we MUST have national consensus to survive. And the United States military getting sent abroad to GET the energy we didn’t have the common sense to develop domestically for ourselves, and will then be out of time to develop.
Oh, and let’s not forget: real war with China, while they fight with us for control of Mid East oil and domination of the seas.
The Left will have brought on us in reality the very paranoid fiction it imagines that we have today.
Then our nation will be “saved” alright… it’s just that it will be unrecognizable…. and there will likely be no return. Goodbye Roman American Republic, hello Empire. A place where everyone is afraid… and should be.
….Jezz, I’m really dystopian today. [*goes off muttering*]

^^ That is nice Doug, and I guess it got broadcast on ABC? So the mainstream media actually aired someone saying “the Emperor has no clothes?”
… or at least saying “The Emperor is a self-absorbed little boy.”
I’ve given some thought to the way BHO does this; and it strikes me as the behavior of someone who is profoundly insecure, which is kind of scary, since he’s President and all that.
