[Massachusetts] At a minimum, the nosh clampdown targets so-called “competitive” foods — those sold or served during the school day in hallways, cafeterias, stores and vending machines outside the regular lunch program, including bake sales, holiday parties and treats dished out to reward academic achievement. But state officials are pushing schools to expand the ban 24/7 to include evening, weekend and community events such as banquets, door-to-door candy sales and football games.

The obvious answer: disobedience. They can’t expel everybody, they wouldn’t get their “cattle car” money.

Hey, ultimately, they elected these folks, so what’s the problem?
Besides, they can always raise taxes. Y’know like a .2% add on to the sales tax called “the school bake sale tax.” Which can no doubt be “returned” to the general population in the form of fresh celery sticks at public sporting events.
I love this. Massachusetts’ populace is so “educated,” like Leopold and Loeb, so they worship their “superiority” to elect these amoral Nietzschean supermen (like ovomit), to be their socialist nannies. They’re so invested in the philosophy, and unreasoning in anything deeper, that they can’t even see it as ridiculous government intrusion. Now on to the supermarket: Twinkies? Banned! Cheese danish? Forbidden! Whole milk? Hah! (Cows will be banned once they go that far!)
It’s easier than teaching nutrition or returning recess and PE to the schools.
Plus, the tykes will learn to submit and not question the authority. Of any government employee.
Ages ago when I was a kid, we had bake sales and junk food and no epidemic of obesity. We had Moms and Dads who would turn off the TV, throw us out of the house and say, “Dinner at 6. Don’t be late.”
Take your kid to the park and leave them there day is coming up.
Massachussettstan (are there enough double letters?) triumphs again. The citizens should be thankful they have such wise and protective leaders telling them how to live.
Meanwhile, in New York: Bagel store fined
“NEW YORK — A New York City health department inspector bizarrely slapped a Brooklyn bagel shop with $1,650 in fines — because sesame and poppy seeds fell to the floor while the bagels were being made during working hours.
The owner of B&B Empire Bagel Cafe — who appealed the violations and lost at two separate hearings — said the inspectors must have holes in their heads.
