Woah!

Self Control; gloogle it.

Ann Romney wrote this column. It’s a sentimental Mother’s Day piece.

Michelle Goldberg didn’t like it and said so on MsNBC.

“Part of it is they are trying to reignite this controversy, right? I mean, they also have out this new Super PAC ad out about basically: Is Ann Romney under attack for being a mother? To me, it’s still kind of amazing that they’re still milking this thing. You know?”

…”It can’t only be me that kind of initially saw Ann Romney as maybe a sympathetic or neutral figure but who is increasingly seeing her as someone who is kind of insufferable because of the way she’s milking this thing…

“In a lot ways, the column was totally anodyne, right? She’s, you know, yes, motherhood is beautiful. I found that phrase, ‘the crown of motherhood’ really kind of creepy. Not just because of it’s somewhat — you know, it’s kind of really authoritarian societies that give out like a Cross of Motherhood. They give out awards for big families,…

“You know, Stalin did it, Hitler did it,”

And later

I got into trouble, however, by saying that Romney’s closing lines, about how there is “no crown more glorious” than the “crown of motherhood,” reminded me of the pronatalist propaganda of World War II-era totalitarian regimes. That was a mistake. Not because I don’t think it’s true—when I read Romney’s words, I immediately thought of the “Motherhood Glory” medals that Stalin gave to women who had lots of children, and of the Nazi cult of motherhood, which Hitler called women’s “highest exaltation.” To me, bombastic odes to traditional maternity have a sinister ring, especially when they come from people who want to curtail women’s rights. But it was an offhand point, and one that wasn’t worth the aggravation it’s caused. I should have realized that right-wingers were going to pretend that I was saying that Romney is akin to two of the century’s most murderous tyrants.’

*sigh*
Tedious.

With respect to style, Michelle Goldberg can’t write worth a shit.
Might be just as well, since her content sucks too.

I’m not into the Mom, apple pie, etc. kind of thing, myself; but there’s nothing wrong with the piece Ann Romney wrote. It didn’t once conjure up images of WWII dictators for me.

But then I wasn’t looking for it to either.

First Rule of Holes, Michelle. Look it up.

Not that anyone actually watches the White-People-Are-Us network, but the more these doofi slog through the gutter, the more regular folks are repulsed by their hatred.

Which is good for our side, of course, but still, as you say, tedious.

I had to look up pronatalism.

“the policy or practice of encouraging the bearing of children, especially government support of a higher birthrate.”

And since I live in Canada I thought “Family Allowance Cheque”:

“Family Allowance, a monthly allowance paid to families with children to help cover the costs of child maintenance, began in 1945 and was Canada’s first universal welfare program. ”

Why did Nazism immediately spring to Michelle’s mind?

Seeeeee, right off the fucking bat I woulda homed in on Joe Stalin & Adolf Hitler, who did/had none of those fucking things, BUT might have!!!!! MSNBC actually demands that kind of research…… [She may have lost points for not wondering why no girl babies-----or--------mebbe they was *eliminated*........?]

Someone recently (my Mother, as it happens) asked me to point to the time when the left became not just the left but the “insufferable left.”

I couldn’t do it, it was before my time.

But there are plenty of reminders.

It’s too bad, M. Goldberg is kind of cute, in a girl-next-door kind of way (I admit it’s mostly the hair). Too bad she’s such a toxic political whore.

I say that a lot. It’s sad, people can’t be people, they have to be mad all the time. Or nuts.

” I should have realized that right-wingers were going to pretend that I was saying that Romney is akin to two of the century’s most murderous tyrants.”

    Because that’s what she said.

Don’t hear what I said, hear what I meant.

The Romney’s didn’t step in that crap and apologize did they?

That’s it? That’s what they came up with on her?
    She’s pro-momming?
    Sorry, I meant she’s pro-childbirth.
(What? Yeah, makes a lot more sense that way. Making the wrong choice is anti-choice in the NewSpeak.)

    Also,
    she forgot to include Augustus.
Emperor Augustus was big on encouraging marriage and large families (probably due to fertility problems due to the lead water pipes in Ancient Rome).

Maybe Ms “Writes with Crayon” Golberg prefers Chinese family policy.
Maybe the radical environmentalists’ policy (i.e. reduction).
Maybe the racist eugenics of Planned Parenthood’s founder, Margaret Sanger.

(What? Yeah, all this snark from a guy who’s avoided havin’ a family ever since he found out he could.)

Anne Romney worked the lure and Michelle Goldberg struck it like an angry largemouth. These people are so predictable.

Anne Romney worked the lure and Michelle Goldberg struck it like an angry largemouth. These people are so predictable.

During the primary I occasionally noticed Mitt Romney baiting other candidates into going ballistic and/or making fools of themselves. He’d do it in ways where he could then go “Who? Me? Nah, Rick/Newt/Rick/Etc just went nuts all on their own, I’m just an innocent little bystanding candidate here.”

“Occasionally” because I suspect that if I’d been paying full attention, I might have noticed it more.

And honestly, in some respects it wasn’t so much that Mitt beat them as that they self-destructed. Remember that?

I just wonder if the Romney’s are the calculating kind of fighters who lure opponents into mistakes. If so, and if they have correctly scoped both their opponents and the electorate in 2012, then this might become a very entertaining election, assuming one can hold on to one’s own sense of proportion….

…because if there’s one sure fact about the Prez and about “progressives” in general, it is that they take themselves far, far too seriously.

But really Snap, that’s not what happened here. Anne’s just an innocent little housewife, penning the kind of emoting piece that housewives are famous for. And she would NEVER stoop to saying that the Democrats are hate filled bitches with a War on Mothers.

Nope, she’d just help the Dems say that all by themselves.

    Michele yo ignorant slut.

Note the AP uses a pic of her next to Ann that is from 10 years ago. See it?

Ann will make a wonderful First Lady bringing back the integrity and charm that most have had before the Moochy.

give out awards for big families,…

“You know, Stalin did it, Hitler did it,”

So did Mao, before China got totally overpopulated. But he’s probably her idol, so naturally his name didn’t come up. Anybody checked the Palestinian Authority’s policy on reproduction and big families? (yeah, they have to both out reproduce Israel and have a ready supply of suicide bombers) Bet she thinks they’re grand too.

…and most popes encourage it… so the fuck what?
