Run Away!!!

Across the board, business owners who responded to the survey were nearly twice as concerned with onerous licensing issues, at state and city levels, than tax rates.

Sacramento, Calif., and Albuquerque, N.M., had the least small-business friendly regulations, both receiving Fs in taxes, among other factors…

Local business owners gave Oklahoma City top marks for “overall regulatory friendliness” – including health and safety, environmental and labor rules

Claire, that is an awesome graphic.

The only thing missing is the arrow pointing out over the water where business flee the USA entirely. But that’s more of an option for larger businesses; as you say, the smaller ones are all heading inland.

    Nice link PatrickP.

On a related topic, I don’t suppose the Chinese would be interested in buying up CA bonds? (The Greek ones aren’t looking too secure these days….)

If you are a Californian Democrat, please drive west if you want employment.

But if you’re a big-business tycoon and want to run a small business, you just stay put, right?

    Yay!

Albuquerque is at the bottom of another list.

Excuse me as I climb into this salmon suit to swim upstream.

    I’m surprised about Albuquerque.

There’s a consultant in Orange County, CA, who keeps track of businesses leaving CA. I think there was one tracking businesses coming in, but he died of boredom.

Here’s an article from December 2010: Top 10 list why firms leave California

“10. Unfair taxes (Tax Foundation ranks California as 48th for tax fairness.)
    9. Most expensive business locations (Rose Institute for State and Local Government has many California cities as the most expensive U.S. places in which to do business.)
    8. Worst performing labor (Pacific Research Institute rates California’s labor performance over a five-year period as lowest in the nation.)”

Other adjectives are “Harsh”, “Unfriendly”, “Uncontrollable”.

On the other hand, it doesn’t rain here much, and if someone was to want to see snow, it’s not more than a few hour’s drive at most.

A couple of years ago, when I was spending quite a bit of time in Reno, I would run into many, many people re-locating their businesses from California to Nevada. One small business owner I talked to said he would save $30,000 per year.

Alan, what type of business did he have and where did he derive his savings? Just taxes or other overhead?

Looks like it’s either bail out or suffer a swirlie.

With a Union owned Legislature of RATz, just a few Republicans, and Moonbeam as governor——The Ship of State will have to sink, before the truth of the “Blue Model” is revealed!!!!!!! BUT, accepted? Whole nother thing……
