Czech out today’s Lympians

As the tour bus rolled to a stop across from a modern, concrete-and-glass house here, guide Justin Svoboda told his group: “This one’s very interesting.”

Not the architecture so much, but the occupant, Czech businessman Roman Janousek, who is mired in an influence-peddling scandal involving the Prague city government. “Feel free to take pictures,” Mr. Svoboda said.

The home was the fourth stop on the so-called Prague Crony Safari, an excursion organized by CorruptTour, a small operation that earlier this year started offering sightseeing trips to places associated with alleged dirty dealing. Executives’ villas, public hospitals, you name it.

“I’m disgusted by corruption,” said Jan Gregor, a 22-year-old college student who went on the tour with his girlfriend one recent Saturday afternoon. It is “a disgrace for the Czech Republic.” As for Mr. Janousek’s house, he said, “It’s the height of bad taste and arrogance.”

What a great concept!! We ought to start something like that here. It would out-draw the “tours to stars’ homes” in Hollywood.

    Click, click.

So nice of them to all put their faces on the same side of the bus for pictures.

Just in case anything were to happen at any of the stops. . .

They could put on a 21-day “Corrupt D.C.” tour to cover a few of the more egregious matters / people inside the Beltway.

Maybe bring a camera crew along… kind of like Real Highway Patrol, and broadcast the results to drum up more business and reach a broader audience. Also the camera crew might reduce the chance for accidents.

(one of the tour features could be “meet your senators & congressman” afternoon, during which they attempt to corner the representatives of the tour attendees while reading off a list of the congress-folks’ “achievements.”)

(it would also be fun to do tours of several large urban area government officials)
