How now brown cowboy Indian.
President Barack Obama and Massachusetts Democratic Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren have more in common than just their liberal political ideology, Harvard Law pedigree, and Democratic Party affiliation. Both claim Cherokee ancestry, and neither can prove it. … President Obama’s claims were made back in 1995, when his memoir, Dreams from My Father, was published. On pages 12 and 13 of the 2004 paperback edition, the President unequivocally asserts his Cherokee ancestry …
And now for something completely interesting:
[W]hile one of my great-great grandfathers … had been a decorated Union soldier, his wife’s mother was rumored to have been a second cousin of Jefferson Davis. [more]
Not related to American slaves but possibly related to Jefferson friggin’ Davis. *yeee-ouch*!

So he’s related to the weeping Indian guy in the litter commercial ?
Ain`t got no
OBoBoinjun blood, but my maternal grandmother showed me the family lineage in her bible and always pointed out that some guy named James Bowie was my 5th great uncle…..Fortunate for Uncle Jim; he don`t know it……………………………….
It was amusing to see a black man turn white when he found out we both had ancestors that detoured off the trail of tears to make their own way, rather than slogging to the pre-Dachau shit holes fedgov had prepared for them.
All that “righteous” indignation and pity bait washed away by a conservative unimpressed with victimhood.
Is there anybody this guy is NOT related to? Oh, yeah. Actual slaves.
A while back there was a discussion thread about whether BHO might have had slave trader ancestors back in Kenya. Now it turns out he might have had slave holder ancestors on the other sided of his family tree right here in the
USACSAUSAWhatever. But his pea-brained black constituency will continue to emote about how much he and they have in common, when the actual answer is NOTHING.One of my ancestors was Sir Thomas More, a great man; that’s really special, except that there were also 8,191 other men in the same generation who were also my 12th great-grandfather.
Interesting, but it won’t put food on the table or get me elected.
BTW, I’ve only found two censuses that actually identify Cherokees by tribe and whether full blood, 1/8 etc. These were done in the late 1800′s, and that would be along about Warren’s great grandparents, or a 1/8th part Cherokee. Lotsa luck going two more generations to get to 1/32 given the Cherokee diaspora. Warren is leveraging family hearsay or made up fantasy and is a total phony through and through.
You might potentially have 8,192 different male ancestors at the 12th generation, but odds are it’s fewer than that thanks to inter-twining of different branches. Depending on where you’re from, and how popular some ancestors were with the ladies, it might be a LOT fewer.
One of my ancestors is Nathaniel Bacon.
Dick, you and I share in common a distinguished ancestor, and we share him with everybody here on the porch….
….The Commander of the Combined Naval Forces of the Planet Earth…

….Noah.
^ anybody know from whence I appropriated that?
Ironic,
Not sure, but I think my relative was Lucy.
^ ColJ, I think it’s possible to have more than one relative.
Don’t anyone quote me without verifying, but I think I read somewhere that there’s now some thought than rather than being wiped out by other Homo sapian competitors, the Neanderthals may have simply interbred, and their descendants continued as part of the larger human species.
As a manager of high-tech projects in a variety of industries for a number of years, I can say with certainty that the Neanderthal genes are alive and well today, and are readily observable in both tech workers and managers at all levels.
Sometimes people cast aspersions about this man but know next to nothing about him.
Hell President Zachary Scott even let him marry his daughter.
Davis was born in Kentucky to Samuel and Jane (Cook) Davis. After attending Transylvania University, Davis graduated from West Point and fought in the Mexican–American War as a colonel of a volunteer regiment. He served as the United States Secretary of War under Democratic President Franklin Pierce. Both before and after his time in the Pierce administration, he served as a Democratic U.S. Senator representing the State of Mississippi. As a senator, he argued against secession, but did agree that each state was sovereign and had an unquestionable right to secede from the Union.[

Yanno, the Mormons (yes, the Mormons) keep extensive family records that they will even research for you for free, or you can do it yourself.
It’s amazing what what you might find. Just call 1-800-MORMONS. I’m kidding, that’s probably not the real number, but, if you’re really interested, you can find the number.
For instance: Almost all of my ancestors were slaughtered by injuns in the infamous Ward Massacre in Idaho. Look it up, if you have the stomach for it. It wasn’t pretty. There’s even a monument somewhere, erected by the DAR, which I still hope to visit.
No shit. Call the Mormons, but don’t tell them I sent you.
Some guy named Bernie Quigley wrote an article in “The Hill” in which he claims that Liz Warren’s claims to be part Cherokee are “correct in mythical terms”. He claims that Ms. Warren, in “wanting to be Indian” makes her, like James Fenimore Cooper’s “Hawkeye”, “in a deeper sense fully American”. So I guess that, in claiming to be part Cherokee, Ms. Liz was asserting her “full & deep Americaness” while espousing EuroSocialist economic policies (created by white men) that are proving to be the bane of “Native Americans” and other minorities (said policies are killing off more “Native Americans” than the U.S. Cavalry ever did).
They make heap big pile Bull Shit.
Yea-ah, but another study I read claimed that all RATz have Neanderthal blood, and that would exclude me……………………………………..
The Current Occupant had a composite Indian ancestor? Hm.
I’m surprised he doesn’t just identify himself as an Earthling and be done with it. Even at that, I would be a touch skeptical, given his mendacity.
2 parents
4 grand-parents
16 great grand-parents
32 g^2 GP
etc…
Pretty soon, you find you’re related to pretty much everybody.
If she is then she’s more closely related to me cause that injun was Iron Eyes Cody… an Italian American of the Sicilian tribe from Louisiana.
Cody was born as Espera Oscar de Corti in Kaplan, Louisiana, a second son of Antonio de Corti and his wife, Francesca Salpietra, immigrants from Sicily. He had two brothers and a sister. His parents had a local grocery store in Gueydan, Louisiana, where he was raised. In some of his earliest acting credits, he was listed as Tony de Corti. His father left the family and moved to Texas, where he took the name Tony Corti.

Does this mean I’m related to Barack Obama?
…How about Sitting Bull? (I like that better.)
Hog (13): glad to see you survived the massacre perpetrated by the distant relatives of us both.
Thunderbottom (14): okay… then according to Bernie Quigley I must be “in a deeper sense fully American” if I claim I’m black because I want to be? (oh wait, I don’t want to be, never mind)
….well, alright, how about if I want to be a Martian? Can I be Harvard’s first Martian faculty member and run for the Senate?
