“[Taking] care that the laws be faithfully executed” means:
a) Enforcing laws one does not like, anyway.
b) Changing laws one does not like through the legislative process.
c) Ignoring laws one does not like.
d) Making up “discretionary powers” to bypass Congress for laws one does not like.
e) Making up “discretionary powers” to execute policies that Congress rejects.
f) Delegating pseudo-lawmaking powers to the Executive-Branch bureaucracy.
g) a and b
h) c through f
i) Constitution? We don’ need no stinkin’ Constitution.

Gurgle, gurgle, down the plug-hole: Greens and Whiners hardest hit!
PS: Mantyhose? Seriously?

Critique: Though Stilton, if investment savy, would transfer ever fucking penny he can spare to the company that makes Louisville Slugger bats, particularly if the same brand bat is used on *Moonbeam*, as well. However, in the short term I suspect that Louisville Sluggers are not positioned with inventory to meet the flood of Sales that would result……!
Reference DougM`s quiz, (a) & (b) are correct. But, it would be educational to explain the background. Elihu Root and Henry Cabot Lodge in 1913 abandoned Theodore Roosevelt after his 1912 Republican Convention speech in Chicago.
In that speech TR was (the likely (R) candidate…) over 320 lb Taft. His speech proved TR to be a mfcs, par excellence!</strong> Among the several things that TR said, was that the Founder`s Constitution was AFU! TR would implement the following changes:
1. Authorize the Senate and House to make CHANGES to the Constitution, by themselves!
2. Allow the Legislative and Executive branches to vote on laws passed by every court, including the Supremes and nullify them if they did not like them!
3. Allow a RECALL vote on all judges of the Judicial Branch whose legal decisions the *majority* did not like!
Elihu Root, then a senator was the convention HMFIC. Root then made a convention speech wherein he endorsed the Founders as having written a magnificent Bill of Rights and Constitution that *miraculously* created, as intended, “A Constrained Constitutional Democracy!” Root said the Founders were well aware that it was “Human Nature” to go BUGFUCK, in a moment of passion about things they did not like, right then and there. However, the slow, deliberative processes of the 3 branches ensured that all sides would be required “To contain their shit” until all sides had a chance to defend their positions——-and then vote!!!!!
TR fucking stormed out of the convention, formed the Bull Moose Party and guaranteed that both he and Fatty Taft would lose to Woodrow Fucking Wilson, which they did! TR`s BEST fucking buddy, ever, Henry Cabot Lodge, had the nads to go against him and between him and Root, fucking saved our Constitution from being trashed!!!!! Both said it was better to deal with Woodrow Wilson than trash the Founder`s reasons for our Constitution!
And, the sad part? Most of us never fucking heard of them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
{…I have no fricking idea why half of my comment became darker black in the goddamn print. I haven`t hit *say it don`t spray it yet*, so clueless if it will print out as I am now looking at it…………BUT, I am a constrained computer nimno, more comfy using ink, applied w a sharpened buzzard feather, which I have found to my chagrin, runs down my computer screen. Nor can I apply red melted wax, for to imprint my Globe and Anchor Seal to my coo-respondance…..meh. }
NATCH, it didn`t…………………
A few years ago, a young lady of my acquaintance took to wearing “70′s Chic” outfits, which I tried to talk her out of. Trust me, I said, th 70′s were not a great time for fashion, if by “fashion” you mean something that doesn’t make you look like a multi-earth-tone buffoon.
Lileks says it shorter, if not necessarily better:
“Welcome to the nadir of human civilization.”
Yes. Yes it is. It’s the 1973 Sears catalog…
Colonel Jerry- I was actually going to make a joke about investing in Louisville Sluggers, but figured I was skating close enough to a visit from the Secret Service (or a drone) not to go there.
DougM- Thanks for the repost. I’m apoplectic about this latest turn of events with the imperial presidency. Especially because unless and until the GOP stands up to Obama, he’s going to escalate the craziness.
^ Amen, brother Stilton.

Turn your head when responding to the news verbally — ink doesn’t stick on spittle.
Oh, and ixnay on the uzzardbay eathersfay. ‘Em’s endangered, I think.
1. Stilton nails it again.
2. Mojo has a nice posting on gov. moonbeams. Having lived there for 4 years I though maybe CA. could get money by taxing the air, you know, anything that fly’s overhead, satellites, space shuttles, transiting airplanes ( oh wait, they tried that ), it failed.
3. or maybe tax anyone that ever lived in CA. on the wages they earned there (if you were ever stationed there they tried once to have a 20 year retirement taxed on 4 years in CA. and you had to pay state tax). That one failed too.
4. Col. J. gives an excellent history lesson. I sometimes think he is another “Bill Whittle” but just flew faster. I guess having real afterburners is something few of us will ever experience. But I know all of us here would love to.
5. Mojo’s second post; once before here on the porch the wearing of mens panty hose was brought up and I remember posting something to the effect one of they guys at deer camp was wearing something similar. And that I too would like to try them as I always wonder what it would be like to show up at deer camp and be treated like a baby harp seal.
6. I will not be wearing “manty hose” to camp this year either. And none of you better be wearing them either, cept’ may Geezerette. She get’s a pass on this one. It get’s cold in the U.P.
Col J: Thanks as well for the history lesson, although even being a Canuckian I HAD actually heard of Root and Lodge (the names at least). Minor point – you say one of TR’s ideas was to “Allow the Legislative and Executive branches to vote on laws passed by every court, including the Supremes and nullify them if they did not like them.” Picking nits here, but courts can’t pass laws, so isn’t that idea moot? Or did he mean ignore the Courts’ rulings on constitutionality, which would be different. (No matter – neither Lodge nor Root are in the here and now, and that’s a damn shame given what’s happening.)
Stilton: Maybe it’s just me, but every time I see the cartoon with the kid and the dog, I think “Damn, that kid looks a lot like Will Rogers.” Got the wisdom for it. Something subliminal, perhaps?
ColJ – thanks for the reminder. It’s hard to believe that a man of TR’s qualities – scholarly, brilliant, a student of and authority on history, hard working and a genuine leader, could drop off the deep end as he did in the Progressive stage of his life. Perhaps a man of his qualities could make such ideas work for a while, but who knows when the likes of TR would be succeeded by an Uhbama?
Our founders well knew and recognized the lessons of history, the nature of man, and left us strong foundational documents to avoid those perils and foibles. It’s beyond me how TR could cast all that aside, but he did, and Root, a wise and competent man for all seasons, would not support his old friend TR in his ambition and folly.
Stilton – cutting truth, as usual!
They’re not going to get any money from carbon credit trading. The scam fails everywhere they try it.
All it does is steal a few million / billion from the rubes and put it into Gore/Soros’ pockets before the market collapses.
What people don’t realize is that the California State government is like 90% idiots. The average state is only about 87%.
Apparently 3% makes a difference, at least in the schedule. In other words, laugh at California all you want, you elected Obama President, so you’re next.
Col.J just think how many mush brains in high school would love to learn history if taught by you—- definitely not boring and in a language they would understand.
#8 Tctsunami The Mr.’s Grandpa preferred to live on his own in a 2 room “camp”. He had winter manty hose(long johns) and summer ones– when he wore the winter ones the summer ones were on the fence in the front yard airing and in the summer the winter ones were on the fence.
I will not be wearing panty or manty hose U.P. cold or not– I hate those buggers. After many years of having to wear white ones and white shoes I don’t care if I ever where either one of them again.
Oh and Stilton —Keep your eye on the sky.
Lord of the Fleas- Now that you mention it, that kid does have some Will Rogers in him (though I hadn’t been aware of it until now). There’s something about that face which suggests he can see straight into the Heart of Darkness and wryly joke about it.
And of course, a dog makes a great straight man.
