There’s certainly more of them around now than there ever was before. I mean, I was about 30 before I even saw one. Now they’re all over, even just a few miles outside of Portland. Magnificent bird.

Pretty sure it’s still ill-eagle (heh… get it?) to even possess a single feather from one unless you’re a ‘Native American’. Funny though how I got to peek inside a federal judge’s office once, on a weekend, and he had a full war bonnet hanging from his ceiling that the Warm Springs tribe had given him. Must be nice being a federal judge. Make-up your own laws as you go along.

Hog…been out here 20 years and I STILL get a thrill when I see one.

JR got a pelican sitting atop a tree getting fucked with by crows too. Love them too. A group of them is called a “squadron” :)

I had one fly across the road in front of me one day. He was carrying a raccoon. Even back when they were “endangered”, we had a nesting pair living on fishies in the lake two miles from here. We also have a pond full of “endangered” frogs and a garden full of “endangered” honeybees. I do not think that word means what they think it means.
Great shot BTW. His camera must be in a quick draw holster.

Now, that’s definitely worth a trip to the Long Beach area.

    Great pics.

Now you need to go over to the Naselle area and click one of Bigfoot.

Beautiful Eagle– we know it’s over 4 years old– how do we distinguish the male from the female?

Our ThomasM taught us the trick….as you creep closer and closer just keep shooting off shots one right after another…we have to work on finding their “comfort zone”…I really do hate to disturb them….

I stayed far back with the Turd Boyz….for their safety as well as the bird’s comfort:)

I do not think that “endangered” word means what they think it means.

A pal of mine has gov’t restrictions on her vineyard because a specific “endangered” Indigo plant “could” grow there. [They don't. Vineyard's been there since 1850-something] She found that specific plant on sale at several area nurseries for $12.95….

Magnificent photos. I still get a thrill every time I see one as well. I even get a thrill when I get close to where I can see a nest.

Endangered? They’re numbers in the Washington, D.C. area are on a steady rise.

    Hat’s off to J.R.

Beautiful pictures. We had a nesting pair at the lake where I live, two years ago.

Beautiful pics! That’s an absolutely majestic bird. Big too.

I sometimes see them fishing while fishing at Arrowrock Dam.

One time I was tromping around in the desert and ran up a small butte. There was one about 15 feet away from me. I froze, getting ready to run back down, but he just looked me over once and took off.

Then there was this group of 5 golden eagles circling around over by Jordan Valley. Three were smaller so I presume they were juveniles. One of them did a sharp bank and when it pulled out into a glide you could hear the feathers on its wing pop when the air caught it again.

An Eagle got hit and killed— is that the end of the story?? Or will there soon be an Eagle in your collection not a pelican?

Get one with them doing the in-flight mating ritual and I’ll be impressed ;-)

How about one of Smurphy humping Rumsfeld instead?
It is always followed by Rumsfeld rolling onto his back and Smurphy licking his pee pee. STG.
