looking for Jim in all the wrong places

aaaaaaaaand they’re off!

Stephanolpoulos: I’m going to go to Brian Ross. You’ve been investigating the background of Jim Holmes here. You found something that might be significant.

Ross: There’s a Jim Holmes of Aurora, Colorado, page on the Colorado Tea party site as well, talking about him joining the Tea Party last year. Now, we don’t know if this is the same Jim Holmes. [ but let's report it right now anyways...] But it’s Jim Holmes of Aurora, Colorado.

Stephanolpoulos: Okay, we’ll keep looking at that. Brian Ross, thanks very much…

The James Holmes arrested at the Aurora theater was 24 years old and seems to be from Denver, CO, according to a Facebook profile (a similar Facebook profile linked by a local news reporter has not been confirmed as the suspect’s profile, either). There are many people with the name “James Holmes” in the area, and the James Homes on the Tea Party website could match a James Homes from Aurora, CO who is in his fifties and therefore does not fit the description of the suspect.

He is a 52-year-old Hispanic conservative who joined the Tea Party…

Again, a mass murderer picks certified-defenseless people to massacre.

If CO is like NC, it is illegal to carry at a gathering where admission is charged.
    (See also: schools, post offices)

This monster carried firearms into a forbidden zone, but if a responsible citizen had, thereby saving a bunch’a people from being shot, he’d be breaking the law.
    My view? Concealed means concealed.

Already, the anti-gun regulars are blaming gun laws.*
Heck, it’s already illegal to take a gun into a theater.
It’s illegal to have and use bombs and teargas there, too.
It’s also illegal to friggin’ shoot and kill people!

It is NOT illegal to defend yourself with deadly force if your life is at risk,
but in some places (like those where mass-murderers choose to rampage)
it IS illegal to carry the means to defend yourself.
    I suspect a strong cause-and-effect relationship, here.

It ain’t the gun (see also: bomb, gas), it’s the gulldanged murderer!
A defensive gun may be the most practical means of minimizing the carnage.
It’s also a deterrent … if the monster thought there’d actually be any armed people there.
(What? Yeah, not many mass murders at shootin’ ranges.)

    Okay, I’ll give you one:
Was this part of a BATFE sting operation gone bad?

Hmm … I think there’s a postable cartoon in that.

Very interesting that the description of the suspect now being tossed out there is VERY specific.
Federal law enforcement officials say the suspect is James Holmes, a 24-year-old white American.
in any other cases, it usually takes DAYS or weeks to get the truth as to the ethnicity of the suspect.
Cryin’ shame no one was armed but the suspect.

Ooh, can I be Mr. Holmes of Aurora’s lawyer?

Melissa, that was the first thing I noticed and it’s right in line with the folks at DHS and TSA and the way they feed the media. Had this been a flash mob of teens beating up people of another shad of skin, we would have never seen a description that hinted at their race or nationality.

Saw on the news last night that the damn Ft. Hood shooter was openly emailing that Shiek whatshisname that got droned off the planet and the damn FBI knew about it but did nothing. We are hopeless as a nation if we don’t get over this PC bullshit and start hurting some peoples feelings now and then.

The media has already done it’s full damage. They prepare for this exact sort of event like firemen prepare for a fire.

The drooling masses have now seen “white American” “guns” “shootings” “death” and “tea party”, and that is all they will retain in their stupid little two-cell minds.

I though I had zero respect for reporters yesterday, but somehow I have less today than then…

I hope the crap hits the fan. Remember the New York attempted bombing was a disgruntled right winger who was protesting health care— how’d that work out–lets see count how many right wing protesters have actually been the ones shooting and bombing. Even if they aren’t they’ll make sure they are connected some how. These poor families. What they”re going thru is enough and than have to be subject to this crap.

DougM, yep right. “Concealed means concealed.”

If the theater was posted, it was probably in anticipation of an armed robbery or gangbangers trading rounds, not this over-the-top wacko coming in the back door with grenades and an arsenal. Personally, I hope the theater owner/manager gets sued down to parade rest.

Waiting for Suzanna Gratia Hupp to weigh in on this. But all we’ll probably hear is Sarah Brady and the other Usual Suspects.

Review of Colorado Concealed carry laws shows few places prohibited by law.

    1) Federally Prohibited Places
    2) Schools…….. but not Universities.
    3) Any building with permanent metal detectors and security personnel at all entrances where all weapons are banned and security personnel must hold and safeguard surrendered weapons.

However, Universities may individually ban CC, and all do.

AND, ANY PROPERTY OWNER MAY POST PROPERTY AND THE SIGNAGE HAS FORCE OF LAW.

Looks to me that I would spend a lot of time telling businesses WHY they had lost the custom of a law abiding gun owner.

I do not know whether the theatre was posted, but if it was I would like to see them have to defend a huge class action lawsuit brought by victims and victims families.

If the theatre was not posted, let it be a lesson to ALL-

NO ONE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR DEFENDING YOUR LIFE BUT YOU !!! TAKE YOUR DAMNED PISTOL WITH YOU. THERE IS NO PLACE WHERE YOU ARE ASSURED THAT IT WILL NOT BE NEEDED… NO PLACE.

Correction: Signage in CO does not have force of law. It may be ignored. If found to be carrying you must leave when asked or tresspass occurs.

Also: Cinemark corporate policy- Only sworn LEO are to be permitted by the management to carry.

Yet another result of identifying places with large numbers of unarmed victims.

You can bet your ass I’ll be packing the next time I go anywhere.

    Brad (13&15)
    Good info & update.
Yeah, in posted places, carrying is simple trespass. If you leave upon being asked/told to leave, you commit no crime. If you don’t leave, the law will chew you up, and the sheriff could revoke your permit. Hey, it’s private property.
This also applies if the owner or manager tells you guns are not allowed, same as a sign.

Don’t be nasty when you point out that you’re not going to patronize a place that’s posted. Just explain yourself and leave with a smile and a wave. I haven’t seen any posted locally owned shops around here for a couple’a years, now. Reckon armed folks are a big portion of the local shopping population.

Not nasty at all. Follow-up with an e-mail to corporate to assure them that me, my firearm and my wallet will not be on their property.

Sent one of those to Cinemark today. They have three SoFLA locations for me to no longer patronize, including the one where I saw Atlas Shrugged. Now that I am aware of their policy I will be sure to not violate it. My patronage will go elsewhere.
