Wait until you see what it’s replacing :)

    I am ecstatic!!!!

Well … you have an extra hole in it, since it already has a sprayer.

I suggest putting a boiling water dispenser there.

^ I was gifted one for Christmas a couple years ago for here at the city digs and I LOVE IT! They’re a bit pricey and waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay down on the list for things at the beach house but maybe some day………..

^ LOL! Now we can take the plumbing off the tub and put it back in the kitchen where it belongs :)

^ Compared to the “sink” that’s in there now….about 2 inches deep and practically made of aluminum foil with a bathroom faucet I’ll practically be able to bathe in this one!

Last time I installed one of these I applied foam insulation (spray can) to make a thick layer on the underside, leaving room to hook up the drain. The advantages: hot water for washing whatever stays hot a long time and, throw some ice and few cans of cola or whatever into it and you have good place to reach into for your next cold drink. Installation time is when to do it since you are already dizzy from standing on your head installing it. :>)

I’d like to 2nd what Twin (13) said ’bout sprayin’ foam on the
underside of the tubs after you install the new tubs into the
counter top! This will SOOO add to the utility of the sink, you’ll
wish you’d done it long ago to your other sinks. Also, I think
it’s standard practice but seal the edge of the sink top flange
to the counter top with a bead of silicone to make it leakproof.
Just a small bead under the outer edge so it can be removed in
    the futchah! FWIW!

Plumb the drain with a p-trap for each section, too.

I like the spray on foam idea, but watch for vapors.

I was stupid for a couple days after painting what I thought was a well-ventilated bathroom with oil based Kilz once. Didn’t even notice that I was walking on the walls by the time I finished.

JBM (16) Thanx for the warning!
God forbid that Head Missy should get the “VAPORS”!

^ Head Missies do not get vapors. Nor do they become hysterical (except about especially great garage sale finds) nor do they faint.

(However, foam spray does sound like a job one does not wish to do while smoking.)

IinD (19) Thank you sooo much for that important information
’bout Head Missy! You’re right, she doesn’t get ‘hysterical’, she
just gets ‘enthusiastic’ ’bout things, like ‘gay-rahge’ sales &
    da SHOOOOZ! sales!

And, yes, I agree ’bout no smokey-smokey ’round foam cans in use!

Do the foam outside before installation and trim as necessary when dry. Bonus is that it’s a bit quieter, too.

Put the drain and disposal ring on too with the sink upside down and just tailor the pipes underneath after installation.

When I was building homes, I always made sure the insulators filled in around the tubs and underneath. Scored extra points from the homeowners when they realized what it meant.

mech (21): I’m having a serious duh moment, since I had envisioned my not-so-smart self under the sink looking up at spray vapor & drip descending.

Now, I will look like I know what I’m doing when I undertake this, and might even enjoy it. They say there is no substitute for experience (and brains).

Who says visiting the porch lacks practical purpose?

(A point for myself, I did realize further up in the thread that this could be used with good result on tubs too: these modern light weight tubs just do *not* hold heat like the old cast iron ones, and even those left something to be desired in temperature retention. It is interesting to see that people who know what they’re doing are already doing this.)

Lance (20): Missy has “gay-rahge” ??? Who knew.

no smokey-smokey: isn’t there a scene in one of those old James Bond movies where he realizes he’s trapped in a fancy bathroom with a deadly snake, lights up an aerosol can, and torches it? Always wondered if that would actually work – especially the part where he doesn’t incinerate and/or blow himself up.

Oh – here it is – Bond torches snake, along about 4:30:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m212D4i-LMM

The whole clip is surprisingly suspenseful considering, how dated & hokey the whole thing is.

For real suspense, November is Coming*. Don’t ya hate having a snake in your bed? Well, of course I was talking about the Bond movie. What else could I have meant?
