A team of genealogists has found evidence that President Barack Obama could be a descendent of an African slave — but not through the lineage of his black father, the most likely route researchers had followed and exhausted.
The link, genealogists with Ancestry.com said Monday, is, in fact, through an examination of his white mother’s family history…

After 30 years of wallowing in primary sources on my own genealogy, I can state that it is very, very difficult to trace slave ancestry before the ACW. If a slave name is listed at all in vestry or parish registries, in state and Federal slave census records, or wills and inventories, it consists of first name only and the slaves’ owner.
There are no familial data showing family relationships like brother, father, etc.
Any lineal descendancy is fraught with speculation, and in this case, probably wishful thinking.
The Left and especially the Black Left so, so desperately want to enhance Captain Bullshit’s thin resume by making Uhbama Genuinely Black, so they can say of Dear Leader “he is a descendant of slaves who became president”, yannow, undo Sharpton’s “not down with the struggle” criticism of Uhbama during his campaign.
They claim his 11th great grandfather was a slave – hahahahaha, even if true, that’s 13 generations, or 1/8192 part black = .012% black.
I call “Bullshit” and panic. But we cannot see his actual curriculum vitae. Double Bullshit.

Oh, yeah the play-pretend slave descendant thing. Well, I had a nice chat with an elderly black rest room cleaner in a high-rise office building the other day, and I’m pretty sure that on the basis of american slave ancestry, he’s a lot better qualified than the guy in office…. but when I say “better qualified,” I’m not really thinking so much about the slave ancestry thing: that old guy had manners, a sense of humor, common sense and a great work ethic; none of which is evident with the present incumbent.* Maybe BHO should look for THAT in his “ancestry.”

As a fun aside though my mother’s family has been doin’ genelogy work for decades (They’re LDS) and has traced the family line to the guy that stole the boat Washington used to cross the Delaware on Christmas Eve. (Along with Henry the 1st, and Anne Boleyn’s sister Mary) The record fills something like 10 3″ 3-ring binders.
