Fine man. Reality based. Makes points clearly. Genuine Conservative. Just hate to decrease Conservative count in either house of Congress, but prolly better from House where we have a “surplus” than Senate where we have a deficit. If I had my druthers, I’d rather see a governor who has a solid lt. governor to take over the unfinished term. Something to be said though for a Congressman familiar with DC games and connections.

I can live with that choice. He knows his stuff and is assertive in pursuing the goals before him. I just saw a video of him deconstructing and exposing 0bamakare to teh precedent personally before a gaggle of minions and cameras.

brains, guts, heart, conservative. Yep, i’d be comfortable with him as President of the Senate.

    Mittens/Ryan

    Ryan/Mittens

Let’s take the kid gloves off and fix this government.

I just spent almost 1/2 hour trying to boot up this fucking laptop so I could do an audience participation with a Church Lady Photoshop asking the same thing…and by the time I got the fucking thing to load Claire had this up!

If Paul Ryan then I’m LMFAOROFL imagining what the VP debates will be like particularly on budgetary matters :)

And JR beminded me how much Ryan and Obama hate each other.

And then there’s the TEA Party cred…

( I kinda dig Christie but I think he’s too harsh for people who don’t get the East Coast… )

    I think he’ll be perfect!

( I still can’t get the vision of Ryan and Biden side by side at the debate podium:)

The first time I heard Mr. Ryan speak I said, “Now that’s what we need someone who can speak with out sounding like an old politician who should have quit while he was ahead and when they get down you say what the hell did he just say but when he gets done speaking you know what he said”. This morning when I heard he was the pick the first thing I said was, “I love it and I can’t wait for the debates”. That is a first. My next tho’t was too bad he’s not running for President. They say the VP pick doesn’t make a difference but I think this one will.
I just hope he’s wearing his crap shield because it’s starting already.

I would have preferred someone with more foreign policy creds and/or more minority pull, but have come, over the past few weeks to see him as the best choice. I surely hope this goes as well as optimism suggests.

By the way, here’s another reason to like him:

In April 2000, Ryan proposed to Janna Little, a native Oklahoman, at one of his favorite fishing spots, Big St. Germain Lake in Wisconsin. Later that year, the two were married in Oklahoma City.

Favorite fishing spots? He cannot possibly be a privileged power elitist….

I forgot to mention the most important thing he said in his speech this morning was what I’ve been saying for years the American people want to hear the truth because if we know what we have to face Americans can handle it. The mistake this administration has made in their quest to change this country is they’re dealing with Americans who will fight for their liberties. They may have won a few mush brains over but when it comes down to “it” which it has we Americans won’t take any crap and we’ll do what it takes to fix it.

Like the choice. Swings Wisconsin. Plus the fact that he’ll completely destroy Biden AND Obama in the VP debate is going to be great. Shores up conservatives. Focus still on Romney as presidential pick. Good choice!

I only wish there were two Paul Ryans, because I think it is a disservice to remove him from the House Budget Committee. Maybe that is why Romney waited so long to announce his VP pick?

Ironic – There won’t be a debate involving Ryan and Obummer. No way that poseur will allow it to happen.

  25. Posted August 11, 2012 at 11:41 am |

This will unite the Tea Party with the GOP establishment, creating a sort of fusion-powered ticket of awesomeness. Choosing Ryan means Romney is serious about limited government and the uncomfortable but necessary entitlement reform that previous GOP nominees have been afraid to touch. This is bold. This is serious.

In response, about all Obama has left is to barrage the airwaves in Florida, Nevada, and Virginia – states Obama won in 2008, states Romney needs to win, and states full of retirees and bureaucrats who depend on big government – with the usual negative “grandma over the cliff” commercials. Expect them to be far, far worse than ever before. A cornered rat is a mean and dangerous rat.

So what do WE need to do? We need to focus on those three states, and focus on a message that is 1) positive, and 2) pragmatic. The thing about seniors, and I don’t just mean the 55 and older crowd, because the younger range of the 55 and over group is baby boomers who are just starting to taste retirement and liking it, but about REAL seniors – the 75 and older crowd – is they did things like survive the Great Depression and win World War II. They know what sacrifice means. They love their country. They want America to survive and prosper so their kids and more importantly GRANDKIDS will have an America worth living in. If we can stay positive and pragmatic, and appeal to the last of the WWII generation while they are still alive and kicking, we can convince them that America NEEDS serious reform – and even if it hurts a little, they will agree.

Romney-Ryan need to blanket the airwaves in Florida, Nevada and Virginia with commercials featuring 80 year olds telling their grandkids how much they love them, and how much they want to make sure that America is still there for the grandkids after the seniors are gone.

PeggyU 24: I was actually thinking of Ryan vs Slow Joe, but Ryan’s going to get to go after BHO in other ways than face to face, and things like that clip I posted in 15 of him in the same room with BHO is going to see some use in the campaign. The trick is to get it into the mainstream media. I don’t know if it’s possible to buy a 7 min spot on CBS, but it would be worth it, whatever the cost.

geezerette 23: Two rich white guys… You’re probably right, that Dems will say that (since they’ve already proved they will pretty much say anything), but it won’t hold up very well to scrutiny. From Wikipedia:

As a boy, Ryan attended Camp Manito-wish YMCA, a wilderness canoe-tripping camp…. Ryan was only 16 when he found his father lying in bed dead. Ryan’s father, grandfather and great-grandfather all died from heart attacks at ages 55, 57 and 59 respectively…. returning to Camp Manito-wish YMCA to work as a staff member and counselor during his college summer vacations. He worked as a salesman for Oscar Mayer, driving the Wienermobile. During his junior year at Miami University, Ryan worked as an intern opening mail…. etc.

Ryan is a deer hunter and he makes his own bratwurst and Polish sausage.

Don’t know what he’s worth now, but he doesn’t sound particularly like he’s got rich roots or sensibilities in any case.

I knew all that but it doesn’t matter. I live on the Wisconsin Michigan boarder and know as much about Wisconsin as I do Michigan. We also know all about Romney and his charitable life and accomplishments but that doesn’t matter either. Obama voters are the most ignorant voters in the country just read some of their comments. Obama and his campaign know that and think nothing of furthering their ignorance.
You mentioned him being a hunter already there’s haters who hate him because he kills animals and posts pictures of his kill.

It’s my understanding that as VP Ryan will have a lot more influence with the Budget Committee in both the House and the Senate.
