    Sonra, replace “stupid” with “evil” and I think it might be a bit more accurate.

    Never allow yourself to be tricked into believing they are stupid or clueless. They know exactly what they are doing.

    People tend to assume other people are like themselves. We think we would be embarrassed if we were caught out thus, because we don’t see ourselves doing that kind of thing.

    They don’t *care*. It doesn’t matter, they do whatever benefits them at the moment. If screaming about war dead helps them, they do that. The second it doesn’t help them, they stop.

    Now, to some smaller or greater extent, people do that. But we’re talking about extremes of behavior, not simple prioritizing.

    To the extent people on the right do this, they tend to call each other out. The correcting mechanism is almost absent on the left.

    The ends justify the means. Even under the current precedent, where they can’t bring the money back to the US without a massive tax bite, they’ll just retire out there and have no regrets.

    Can’t imagine leftys having any regrets at all, except for getting caught.
