Today at The Grocery

trend? reaction?

This Safeway outfit is really honkin me off. This was on the front door today. Maybe in response to this?

[San Jose, CA 31st] homicide occurred when man was killed in a stabbing inside … Safeway store

That’s a Safeway level of “sense”….

Breaking news for us West Coasters…. Shooting spree outside the Empire State Building just now. But that can’t be possible. You can’t carry a gun in New York.

    Right?

Libs will get us all kilt.

Looks like a freezer and fewer trips to a farther away grocery store are in the cards for Claire…..
Make sure you let “Safe”way know why.

Can’t bring a gun to a knife fight, then?

    Yeah, the logic, here, boggles.

Here in Nevada County that would mean Safeway shoppers limited to priests, nuns and babies!

If I carry a gun into that store, how are they going to know? I’m carrying concealed, it’s not going to fall out when I bend down to get a can of Spam. I’m not going to wave it around if the guy in the Ten Items Or Less Line has eleven items. So, how are they going to know?

If the sh*t hits the fan and I’m forced to use the weapon to save a life, possibly my own…I think I can live with being asked to leave the store by a snippy assistant manager after the danger has been neutralized.

You don’t need a gun in Safeway. They sell some wicked looking cooking utensils on aisle three, which come in handy when you feel like robbing the store.

    Do they sell bar-b-que forks?

I guess if they put up a sign that said “No robbery allowed”, they would never be robbed.

Alan, I have never heard it put so well and simply.

Exactly Mumblix. In MN the laws pretty friendly toward firearms owners. A buisness has to have a sign posted to the left AND right of the door to be considered “official.” Anything else and I can carry. I have broken no law until the firearm has been discovered and I refuse to leave when asked. Even then, the fine is only $25. So….keep it concealed and there is no problem. Your state may vary.

I’m not sure I see the point. As I understand it, only female legislators and celebrities can have permits in California.

By identifying Safeway as yet another location full of unarmed victims, Safeway management has just encouraged the next mass shooting.

Here in NC, it’s considered mere trespassing. You don’t commit a crime, if you leave when asked to. It’s only if you don’t leave that law enforcement is brought into it.
Aaaand they’re stuck with a trolley full of melting ice cream.

Then again, as the man said,
    concealed is concealed.

Yeah, I’ve been considering the utility of sitting out front in a folding chair with a sign that reads something to the effect:
Caution: every thug and psycho in the state know that Safeway customers are unarmed and defenseless. Enter at your own risk.

I know I’m not showing the proper amount of decorum, solemnity
& maturity ’bout this serious matter, but my firstest thawt was to
getz bunchez of doz sticky bumper signs printed sumpin’ like,
“SAFEWAY AIN’T SAFE”! Then in small print below that, sumpin’
like “bring a gun to a knife fight!” Next, in a number of places,
(coast to coast) innocent bloggers (snicker!) & FBers would apply
those stickers at appropriate locations, take piccys & spread them
all over duh intartoobz, with appropriate warning messages to
innocent shoppers! And now for my Pièce de résistance!
Hordes of bloggers & FBers sending piccys & emails to ‘Safeway CEO’
thanking him/her profusely for finally making Safeway a safe place
to shop where parents can protect their babies & children plus their
neighbors from malevolent bad guys! Of course, CCs to Rushbo,
GBTV, etc. plus the MFM! My real purpose of this ‘campaign’ is to
make every other gun-hating CEO fear restricting our 2nd amendment
rights, plus have some fun doing it. OK, I’ll shaddup now!

    ^ Don’t you evar! :)

Claire, you should sign up for that safeway shopper card so they’ll be able to track what you’re NOT buying!

Was the victim stabbed with a firearm?? Maybe it was a bayonet? Help me out here, I’m a bit confused.

” stabbed with a firearm” LOL!

  22. Posted August 24, 2012 at 3:20 pm |

    That’s a local manager’s retarded sign.

Ain’t one in the window in the Safeway in Cheyenne.

Although I’m surprised to see it in San Jose. Not exactly a hotbed of CCW. Maybe they think it will keep the criminals from carrying?

  23. Posted August 24, 2012 at 4:29 pm |

The freak in NYC had probably 7 in the mag 1in the pipe. Shot his boss 3 times and had one left after the cops killed him. That means he shot maybe 4 probably 3 times at the police. Cops shot 14 times at the perp and hit multiple bystanders. I think they should worry less about citizens with guns and more about nypd range time.

^ Yeah, I’m waitin’ for this to settle down.
    I use the 24/36-hr rule*.

    * Don’t believe anything reported for 24.
Don’t buy the stats for 36.

  25. Posted August 24, 2012 at 9:05 pm |

^duly noted, but it has gotten better. They’re now saying the perp didn’t even get off a shot at the police and seven (7) bystanders were hit.
I still call for more range time for the nypd.
