Why even have the Marines there at all? They are trained to take care of business. I guarantee you that if they were allowed to do so at the embassy in Libya that there would have been a bunch of dead muslims and probably no Americans would have been harmed.

When I was stationed at Headquarters Marine Corps (…up the hill fm the Pentagon…), one of my duties was monitoring the Marine Security Guards for the State Department ala Embassy Marines. I had the contract between the USMC and State. That contract specified in great detail the who, what, when, where and how Marines would protect all Embassies around the globe.
I can speak about one aspect that is unclassified. Embassy Marines WOULD have suitable weapons and ammunition for ALL embassies; period, end of story.
NO ONE, including the Secretary of State could order Embassy Marines to be unarmed (…read: no ammuntion…)!!!!!!!!

FWIW – Our ambassador to Egypt, Anne Peterson, was the pussified genius who denied ammo to our Marines at the embassy in Egypt. In addition, the embassy in Cairo and the consulate in Benghazi had 48 hours advance warning of the attacks from American intel departments.
Anne Peterson was in Washington at the time of the attacks. She left her people naked and covered her own ass by going AWOL.
To me, the biggest glaring stupidity on the part of all involved at WH and State is that they took no particular notice of the approaching 9-11 anniversary. I remember from years ago that al-Qaeda and their fellow travellers are big on symbolism like anniversaries and birthdays. I remembered that. WTF is the matter with the so-called professionals?

There’s been a lot of complaints about POTUS aka Captain Zero jetting off to Vegas for fundraising instead of sitting in the Situation Room acting like the Commander in Chief. I think all this otherwise justifiable outrage misses the point that Captain Zero would have been no more useful to the interests of the United States if he were in the Situation Room than he was finding money for himself in Vegas.
