I’m amazed that it’s only 225 years old a blink in the eye compared to the other countries in the world. Think of what we Americans have done and the price we’ve paid to be Americans in America. Than think of what’s been happening to this country. SAD!!

To ensure there was a Constitution Day in 1789 ; 14 years earlier, on 10 November, 1775, the United States Marine Corps was created! Ironically, just down the street from the Founders was “Tun Tavern”—–full of volunteers!

France, Doug, if you count the Neanderthals nee` Basques?
geezerette,
Nah, a real country has a birth rate.
Yeah, okay, there are a few little corners of Euristan that have allowed some prince or duke to remain the head of state, usually for tourist purposes or so as not to draw attention from the power-hungry maws of their bigger neighbors.
ColJ,
How many revolutions and coups has France had since 1787?
Frog-leg eatin’ warn’t in my Air War College texts as a factor in government characterizin’. However, find me a powerful Neanderthal bloc in the next government power-sharin’ arrangement, an’ I’ll admit t’bein’ wrong.
(What? No, not them. I mean Neanderthal Neanderthals.)

Doug, the Vatican City does meet all 8 criteria for independent country status so it is considered as an independent state.
