tonight’s assignments

From the desk of Texas Department of Agriculture Commissioner, Todd Staples

America’s war on terrorism has sent thousands of troops overseas, but the reality is, there is a growing threat here at home. At an increasingly alarming rate, violent Mexican drug cartels are illegally crossing our border, invading Texas farms and ranches, threatening the lives of our fellow citizens and jeopardizing our nation’s food supply.

With ProtectYourTexasBorder.com, the Texas Department of Agriculture documents the true stories of those who supply our food under the constant danger of criminals who have crossed our border illegally. Through this website, I implore the federal government to enforce our laws and secure our nation’s borders. We are at war and our federal government must answer its call of duty to protect its citizens and our national security.

Until Washington stands beside us, Texas is prepared to take matters into its own hands to the fullest extent possible. Texas will fight and protect to the best of our ability, but a successful campaign to stop border violence will require Washington to acknowledge this threat as a national security issue and assign the appropriate resources to combat and defeat our enemies. I can assure you a threat to our citizens and food supply is a threat to our national security.

Through this website, you will meet our brave Texas citizens who deal daily with harrowing episodes of intimidation, trespassing, drug running and property damage. Their lives are in danger, their families feel threatened and their property is shadowed by fear…

I call horseshit. If that was a fact, they’d be treating this as a war, and not waiting for the federal government to decide not to hate America. They’d be finding ways to work within the current laws to just shoot the bastards and send a message back to Mexico.
We are beyond the point of needing to wait for the federal government to do its job. It is obvious that they have no intention of doing so. The states are on their own, and need to act like it.
What’s Washington going to do? Sue them? Kick them out of the union?
Start killing the fucking ‘cans and push the cartels back. Washington can get lost if they get their panties in a wad over it.

I’m thinking it’s political posturing, but the tact may be more effective than it appears.

When you have real people, with real lives, that have to deal with criminals that hide among people that are basically good, but have no conception of our demand for law – since they live in a land where law is subjective – rooting out the bad, without harming the good is a tough thing to do.

There’s a huge cultural difference between Mexican and United States citizens. If you haven’t seen the difference, it’s hard to understand how “alien” is a very accurate description. They’re ignorant, and, unfortunately, we don’t have the resources to welcome them all with open arms.

The solution doesn’t fit in with the “feel good” crap that’s expounded by the liberals. Only harsh actions will stop the tremendous drain on our resources and I’m hoping the saber rattling of Todd Staples is the first step in pushing the Federal Government into action, or showing it’s ass. Either will be a change, which is always necessary for a solution.

When the regime in DC won’t allow even those entering the country without permission to be called illegal, what’s Texas to do?

Those states on our southern border know the situation and should be allowed to enforce the law. If they are not “allowed to”, do it anyway.

I’ve never known a rancher that will put up with crap for any length of time. You push them hard enough, they’ll push back with all they have, and they won’t ask for permission from some pencil dick bureaucrat.

^ Jess, I speculate that the ranchers might be outgunned, and becoming quite concerned about prosecution by the very system that’s supposed to protect them as well.

Meanwhile, in today’s coveted political endorsement, Chavez endorses Obama and assures all that he thinks it’s mutual (which no doubt it is):

There’s some ranchers down south that could buy and sell a few drug cartels on a slow day. They can outfit a small army if needed.

^ Oh, well then more power to them.

Of course if they shoot a few, the previously missing feds will do doubt suddenly show up to “enforce the law.”

I don’t think the feds would know.

If there are a few bodies already buried in the desert, we have no way of knowing. It isn’t as though the smugglers are going to file a missing person’s report.

US Constitution, Article IV, Section 4:
“The United States … shall protect each [state in this union] against invasion ….”
It’s time to clarify the difference between immigration and invasion, but the Progs seem intent on muddying it.

This is a bigger job than a lot of folks realize. Mexican Drug Lords have large offices in fucking Chicago! They penetrate our Southern border from Florida all the way to California. They have hundreds of thousands of heavily armed soldiers gang members. They perceive America as “The Big ATM”………

If Texicans of old mobilized a Texas Army, it wouldn`t work because, today, as opposed to the old days, Texas by itself has both flanks wide open-ala all the other border States! The Drug Lords have millions of dollars and Texas has a budget and an economy to maintain. That is her Alamo! Alone, Texas is akin to the Dieppe Raid in early WWII…..

IF we can clean up our Federal Government the way we are intending to, then we can build a barrier that is effective along ALL our Southern border and that plus an armed and cleared to fire military covering it WILL cut into the Drug Lords millions….

In our Constitution it is called protecting ALL American citizens from enemies! Foreign (Mexicans) and Domestic (Libtards, RATz & mfcsMedia and Hollywood………)

    I have done.

Yasser Arafat’s Exhumation May Answer Questions about His Death
(Warning: Guardian Link, Confused Thoughts Ahead)

My question, such as it is: Is it true Yasser was wearing a garter belt and fishnet hose on the fatal eve?

Oh, and a teaser: What is the half-life of Polonium?

Let’s use the Who benefits approach:

Who benefits from America having no boundaries/borders?

    [Clues:
    - It has nothing to do with things that have other solutions, like cheap labor and lettuce-picking...

    - A country without borders/boundaries is not, actually, a country.]

    Posted October 1, 2012 at 9:58 am |

^ 14: I’m assuming mojo’s question is rhetorical, but the half-life depends on which isotope is in question. On the other hand, there is this from the Wikipedia article, which contains much more info.

the biological half-life of polonium in humans is 30 to 50 days

Of course that might be live humans….

In any case, as a non-specialist I’m speculating that it would take some sophisticated work at this point to produce a definite answer.

    Bonus face:

Polonium has been found in tobacco smoke from tobacco leaves grown with phosphate fertilizers.

Hardly the most pressing hazard with tobacco, but still a fun fact.

Claire 15: Who benefits from America having no boundaries/borders?

That’s an interesting perspective which I had not considered.

There’s lots else about the “who benefits” question that I think is obvious; and, now that you’ve brought it up, there’s lots about your “not a country” observation that seems evident as well.

For instance, as to motivation, even well intended internationalists likely think that anything that diminishes us as a country goes to the greater good…

However: you view things from an interesting angle that is sometimes refreshingly different than mine.

So, if you chose to offer a short essay on this subject, I, for one, expect that it would be interesting reading. One of the benefits of porch visits for me is that while there’s the not unexpected “well, sure that’s what I think too” for 80%+ of what I find here (sometimes entertainingly presented, which is a value in itself), there is sometimes a “well, duh, I never thought of / knew / examined that…” kind of experience in the other 20% that is wonderfully broadening.

It’s a good thing our federal government has finally stepped in and addressed this issue. Imagine those pooooor and unfortunate having to go up against those heavily armed ranchers without the benefit of Fast and Furious. They would be terribly outgunned.

Here in Texas CHLs are up. You can keep your handgun in your car without a permit to carry also. Legal to have a rifle or shotgun in the car (no stinken permit either.)

Hell of alot better than most states. We also have a stand-your-ground law and Castle doctrine!

Yea we have some problems near the border but ALOT of people are armed.

If the Kenyan muslim shitstain is reelected it would not be too surprising to see Gov, Perry and Texas AG Abbott start talking 10th Amendment and testing the waters by mouthing the word “secede”. There is much more than just aggravation with federal intrusion but no federal support here. America is shot to hell anyway if obama isn’t returned to Chicago, or Honolulu or Nairobi or wherever he emerged from the black lagoon. America breaking up may be the only salvation to saving America. Who knows what the near future holds.

Tragedy and irony: 2 US border agents shot, 1 killed, near major drug corridor in Arizona — they were working out of a station that “two weeks ago… was named after Brian Terry, who died in a shootout in December 2010 not far from Tuesday’s shooting.”

    Peggy,

You do know of what General Pershing did in the Philippines during the insurrection of 1899?

Well the Moro warriors (Muslims) pissed him off and he gave the order that any Muslim terrorist killed were to be wrapped in PIG SKINS and buried. The word got out and the Moro’s decided to bargain for a cease fire.

So see there IS a way to deal with them.

P.S. and they also found out the .38 Long Colt round was garbage and went back to the .45 Long Colt till the .45 ACP was adopted. Now days SOCOM uses .45s and the reg. forces the 9mm. Things haven’t changed all that much. Those in the know use the .45.
