Okay… what debate, and when is it on?

It really doesn’t matter what Mitt says. ABC, et al will declare Obama the winner before the show is over.

^^ I meant to say, “before the show starts”

I take it this is being held in Denver because Obama’s group is hoping the low oxygen levels will bring Romney down to his level of brain power?

I think I’m going to shut the door to my room– it’s spoiling my good day—-:((((

I have Medicare, except I don’t get Medicare. What’s up with that?

Yesterday (Oct. 2) I called the Social InSecurity office to inquire why my check hasn’t been deposited yet, like they said it would be on the 31st of last month.

I didn’t ask, but I’ll bet the girl I talked to got her check on time.

It appears to me that Romney is debating Lehrer and playing him like a fiddle. obama seems nothing more than a third wheel.

Mitt seems to have command of the facts.

    Obama, not so much.

I am pretty happy with Mitt’s performance, but so many Americans are so disconnected it may not matter how well he does.

Mitt hammered him pretty nicely with Solyndra, donor cronyism and picking only losers in green energy.

Mitt has got to be happy with this. Mech, I was thinking the same thing. Mitt actually looked like he felt sorry for the poor bastard. Only thing I might have done differently was that when pushed for “details” about his plan, I might have subtly made a comment about having to elect me before showing you my plan (ala Nancy Pelosi).

All in all, a pretty sound thumping, but still looking forward to the Ryan/Biden bloodbath,

  41. Posted October 3, 2012 at 9:25 pm |

I didn’t bother watching the debate (I’m already decided, no need for the debates, thanks! Short of Romney revealing he’s a space alien with plans of converting all human beings into food or something of that ilk, I’m pretty much going with him. If he does, I’ll have to think about it), but I was more curious about the media reaction… which has been hilarious. Chris Mathews was pretty much in tears, “high information viewer” (whatever that is supposed to mean) Andrew Sullivan was flabbergasted, NPR is calling it for Romney…

I was expecting Romney to win the debate, but I thought it would be close enough that the likes of MSNBC would call it for Obama (only to have it proven to be the opposite the next day, like happened in the first Bush debate if ya’ll recall). I wasn’t expecting such a blow-out that even Chris Mathews and Ed Schultz (and, heck, I didn’t hear it myself, but I understand even the deputy campaign manager of the Obama campaign admits Romney won the debate) had to admit Obama blew it.

I didn’t watch, because having to listen to two minute intervals of that stumbling, braying Uhbama voice would have been more than I could stand.
Sounds like he took enough of a drubbing that it may have been worthwhile, though.
In any case, I was glad to read that the Luntz focus group of undecided 2008 Uhbama voters flipped strongly, almost unanimously, for Romney after watching the debate.
As for me, I’d vote for my used toothbrush over Uhbama no matter what he said, so I’ll vote early and often for Romney.

  43. Posted October 3, 2012 at 10:21 pm |

    the Luntz focus group

Hey! I just got a $15,000 piece of glass today merely for the asking. It’s not a Luntz, though. It’s a Schneider. It’s obsolete now, but then, so am I.

I wasn’t aware that ‘Luntz’ ever even made lenses.

Did you notice Romney’s grim look when he wasn’t speaking. Karl Rove programmed the Robot – it was pure performance, he didn’t understand or mean a word that he said.

As usual he adopted another new persona to fit the moment.

I wish some of you rabid Romney supporters would explain to the rest of us just exactly what he represents because honestly I don’t know.

When was Romney for the debate Romney before he was against it?

How many days do you think it’ll be before he says “off the record”, gaffs, or another incriminating video is found to show the real, mean spirited billionaire who cares less about you or men than I care about him?

#28, Geezerette: Do you remember when Shrillary ran for the Senate, she debated her opponent, Rick Lazio? Near the end of the debate, Mr. Lazio tried to get her to agree to limit the amount of “soft money” campaign contributions and walked over to her podium with an agreement for her to sign. Shrillary’s enablers painted Lazio as a “bully” who “invaded her space”. As Rush said soon after, Rick Lazio made the mistake in forgetting that “you never hit the girl”. I’ll bet most, if not all, of “President Mom-jeans” will now accuse Romney of “hitting the girl”.

You got eh #49 and don’t forget they are all snakes laying in the weeds waiting to strike— he’ll play the victim then raise his ugly big eared head when they think Romney least expects it and wham— if anyone thinks his I’m not concerned about the debate tonite and didn’t prepare isn’t part of a plan they had better keep a sharp eye on their asses.

Two-thirds of people who watched the first presidential debate think that Republican nominee Mitt Romney won the showdown, according to a nationwide poll conducted Wednesday night.*

According to a CNN/ORC International survey conducted right after the debate, 67% of debate watchers questioned said that the Republican nominee won the faceoff, with one in four saying that President Barack Obama was victorious.

No presidential candidate has topped 60% in that question since it was first asked in 1984,” says CNN Polling Director Keating Holland. [italics mine]

….with one in five saying that Obama performed better than expected. [wooo.... if he did better, how low must their expectations have been?]

35% said the debate made them more likely to vote for Romney while only 18% said the faceoff made them more likely to vote to re-elect the president. [hard to know how seriously to take that last stat, but it can't be good for Zero]

Several folks have made reference to Zero being the dog strapped to the top of Mitt’s car.

There’s a better dog analogy that’s come up lately.

Heard the story about this driver that nailed a stray poodle? Incredibly, it was lodged in his grill as he drove for miles, finally stopping at a police station so it could be removed, still alive, and taken to the vet. That’s more like the debate. Plus, Zero as a metaphorical poodle speaks to me.

That’s a good one, Ironic, since a couple of my leftist high school classmates posted that poodle pic on facebook.
I’m feeling just about ornery enough right now to make that analogy as a comment!
