Apparently the strategy is to work it into the narrative- Ryan is lying.

Might work better than deciding to hammer the theme the following day.

It’s just become a free-for-all against Ryan. I guess this was the strategy.

This is just terrible. Ryan is not doing a good job of sticking up for himself. Biden is acting like a lout, and Raddatch is out of her league. This is everything the last debate was not.

Ryan is being polite and assuming that people will be influenced by facts.

biden thinks people will be pursuaded by his loudness and facial expressions.

radditz just has an annoying voice and doesn’t enforce the clock.

Sorta funny if it wasn’t all so grating (ever think of turning down unkle joe’s microphone a notch?)

I wish that Ryan had not made those pictures that make him look like a doofus. Turn the hat around or take it off.

Unfortunately the pics were taken last year before he was the VP candidate. What comedian does he look like?

Going by the comments here, I would have to say it’s a pretty in-your-face example to the American sheeple that this whole system is one rigged up pile of bullshit.
A 2-year old could out-debate Joe the Clown

My guess is that most of the American people are not going to be able to sort out what these guys were arguing about. With the absence of the ability to judge where they stand on the issues, they’ll make their judgements based on the comportment of the candidates.

I believe Biden destroyed any likability he might have had with his rude, inconsiderate behavior.

I’m betting that Biden’s strategy is based on the fact that too many Americans follow politics only superficially. So, Uncle Joe can easily toss out “facts” knowing full well many folks won’t bother checking them out. Especially better if he acts as an aggrieved senior statesman being harassed by an uppity junior wonk.

However, the “aggrieved senior statesman” act has to be played carefully. Biden overdid it — came out looking like a crazy uncle.

Talk loud and be assertive Plugs, and hope the people will not notice you haven’t answered the question or you are lying. He is a bully, a nasty man disguising his lack of knowlege and intellect with bluster and intimidation.

I think Ryan blew the abortion question. He should have stated his personal belief, fine, to say he is Catholic and believes in the sanctity of life, but then he should deferred to the Constitution and the law. He could have said “It’s the law of the land and I will follow it. However, the Constitution is silent on the issue, so the Federal government has no business being involved. Romney/Ryan are against abortion, but keeping the Federal government in it or getting out of it is the business of the Congress, not the Executive.”

The Joe Biden show. Every question gave Biden the opportunity to espouse his talking points. He was on the stump– and when Ryan tried to express his points Biden was either interupting or grinning like the cat in Alice in Wonderland.

I learned two things tonight. First, Paul Ryan can’t debate. That came as a surprise. Second, Joe Biden has no idea how he comes off to other people. I think this will turn out to be a plus for Romney. Obnoxious liberals will think it’s great that Biden was nasty, but they’re already committed to Obama. Independents will probably be repelled, and they’re the people Biden needed to reach.

  18. Posted October 11, 2012 at 8:45 pm |

I think Ryan could have invoked the founding principles more than he did. But you can’t argue logically with a crazy man.

I thought Ryan came off more composed, more polite. Biden was instructed to be aggressive, and he was. I don’t know if it worked for him.

On the abortion issue, Ryan should have quoted Jefferson: “To compel a man to furnish contributions of money for the propagation of opinions which he disbelieves and abhors, is sinful and tyrannical.” Similarly for government funded abortions.

I listened to the first hour in the car on the way to the Asylum…didn’t see any expressions, I heard them. Biden was an obnoxious douche. I am not kidding…I got a pounding headache trying to follow the dialogue but all I heard was Biden being rude and loud and the “moderator” didn’t moderate shit. And the ” hey, man” shit is why I thought the Trans Am picture was real.

So what’s the general consensus? I’m sure the Lympians loved it because that’s exactly how THEY “debate” but no freaking way could a true moderate type not be aggrivated by it…

Team Biden-Radditz thought they were winning, in fact they were beclowned.

Ryan could have done a *little* better but he did the only thing he really had to – not get baited into the “testy Ryan” meme the MFM were setting up.

I know a lot of people hate Biden after this a *lot* more than they may worry about Ryan. Biden is diaper contents.

I think the debate happened at several levels. If you read the transcript, I think it’s dead even. If you heard it on radio, Biden won. If you watched on television, he lost.

    Hog, don’t you mean this?

  30. Posted October 11, 2012 at 11:39 pm |

While it is too early to say what the final verdict will be I am convinced that Biden’s attitude isn’t going to help him or Obama. When Obama lost he turned to Big Bird, Tomorrow it will be Biden’s smirk that will bring on the DNC’s Headache
82 interruptions in a 90 minute debate, I guess you could call that winning. Smirking at every turn may be one way to make a point. Throwing out the same old talking points, even ones that were shot down in the last debate might be called “making the case” These are tactics not substance. Ryan went for the core of the Issues Biden laughed and pointed. >>>SQUIRREL<<<
And the first hit on Biden's smirking comes from… The Lord – Proverbs 29:9: "If a wise man has an argument with a fool, the fool only rages and laughs, and there is no quiet." About sums it up. And don't forget this is how Biden “won” 4 years ago.

Ryan was interrupted 82 times by either the leftist “moderator” or Biden.

This is how the left “debates. They interrupt, stoop to name calling, or silence you any way they can. Or maybe use your name in a crappy book to slander you.

    The left is VERY angry.

Yanno…. It sticks in my mind that a couplafew times, as I watched the Uncle Crazy interrupt Ryan a-gain – [only to wander off into the linguistic deep weeds, realize he was lost and shout a cute euphemism for "LIAR"] — I’d see Ryan with the expression of a nice man visiting a relative at the Old Folks Home being very gentle and respectful to the Crazy Old Hollerer who wanders the halls.

At one point, when Uncle Holler and Nurse Obama was at my wedding nyaa were hotly debating, he gently cleared his throat to remind them they weren’t alone in the room and placed a few, simply worded facts on the table.

Like he was gently and respectfully removing the matches and re-directing them to the checkers board.

I sure don’t garee with everything this fella has done, but, as a man, I think I like him.

    His self-discipline matches his guns.

Ummm did I miss something? When did Biden start running for President? He sure had the “I” thing going. EBL #37– thanks for that— I’ve shared it on my FB page. There were so many “gaffs” it’s nice to have them all listed. Seeing as he “says what he means” ummm??? or is it means what he says? If you didn’t know any better you’d fall for all the BS. When he bragged about how many years he’s been in office I was a thinkin’ c’mon man ’bout time you retire and join all those middle class people you support. Ahh yes it was Joe being Joe ya gotta lov-um.
