By the way, in the understandable rush to hang this debacle around the neck of Captain “Bayonets and Horses” Zero (which is certainly where the coverup belongs), the thing that’s getting overlooked is that the entire State Department has been out of control for a very long time.
Although the *response* would have been quite different, the event might easily have happened under Clinton (the cigar one), either Bush, and well…. pretty much all of them.
Like most large government agencies these days, including those evangelists over at Christians In Action, the primary product is internal politics, not external results. That said, State (overall, not just in this matter) is about as an egregious example as I can think of, and it will be one that would be very, very hard to clean up.
It’s not snappy, but it would be accurate to call it Arab-not-so-springy-gate.
If it’s Benghassery, then the administration is a bunch of Benghasshats.
