Make sure your backup water supply is refreshed and properly bleached to maintain usability.

And don’t forget to check your tire blood pressure.
I get where you’re going and I get about 12 mpg, BUT I did get a free windshield yesterday. Been stocking up on canned goods and other higher shelf life items.

Look into converting your car or generator to also run propane as a fuel. It’s not too hard to do and will give you greater flexibility in case of an emergency or disruption in the supply chain.
Go on YouTube to see how others have done it.

Keep a siphon hose in your trunk. People keep their tanks topped up, so there’s always …

Ammo: do I have enough?

From Bill Whittle. It’s LONG. Get a coffee. I mean a POT of coffee and get comfortable.
Use the stupid canned food drive at work as an opportunity to go through your emergency supplies and get rid of the stuff that’s expiring next year.

Also, don’t let ANYONE in your building know you have supplies.

^ Seriously. Give it a listen. I tuned into Rush today, hoping he could help me make sense of what happened last night. Looking for some optimism. Not much to be found, even from El Rushbo. Not faulting him or anything, he laid it out pretty plain and simple. We got our asses kicked, but I was looking for the answer to, “Now what?”
Much needed optimism from Bill. Tell me what you think.
I’ve been saving the empty jugs that my kitty litter comes in. I reckon they’re about 4-5 gals. with nice screw-on caps. I will now rinse them out and bleach accordingly. I think that’s about 5 drops per gallon.
Ewww!? No, silly, all they had in them before was earth and clay. At least, I hope so.

Ok, and Patrick ( #8 ) made me smile hugely wicked. I love you!
It is more constructive than bitching from a bell tower, or worse.
Life may increasingly suck in the foreseeable future and saving provisions is good, but we are able to create and adapt in spite of what is going on around us. We have incredible resources compared to the Founding Fathers. I don’t believe our conditions are harder, just different. Are you part pf the solution or the precipitate?
Pessimism is easy, I’m choosing to seek constructive people, activities, and mindset.

kinlaw, you only have too much ammo when you’re trying to swim with it. Or your house is on fire.

I thanked God yesterday for my JR, my dog boys, the beach and my house at it and for rickn8or and the rest of we KisPians…and for not letting me become one of them regardless of the tribulations I’ve had throughout my life.

I keep the 5gl jugs that my pool chlorine tablets come in. I also never let my gas tank get below 3/4 FULL (I learned that from the ’89 Loma Prieta quake). I have lots of ammo and food. I have 38k gallons of water in my pool.

OldMan, I may have to re-think my strategery here. I was always a 1/4 tank kinda guy, you know, so you could “always fill up in the daylight in a good neighborhood”, but there’s this thing around here called The New Madrid Fault…

• Keep your powder dry.
• Remember, ammo is also trade goods, so stock more than you’ll ever need.
• Own at least one disposable gun and at least one revolver, so you don’t leave spent brass lying around with your fingerprints on it.
• Keep some MREs and water in an upper story or a high shelf.
• Have a safe room (with gun, cell phone, and pee can).
• Know how to escape from every room in your house.
• Have a flashlight handy every place you sit, but be able to navigate around your house in the dark.
• Learn how to use everything within reach as a weapon.
• Don’t investigate noises for at least 5-min. Get into a defense or escape position, call 911, and make the noise come to you.
(What? Oh, right, forgot.)
• Find out which neighbor has the most comfortable spare bed or couch.
