One by one, I hear of companies cutting back hourly employees to less than 30 hours to avoid having to pay for insurance. With the unemployment rate what it is, how likely is it that people will be able to pick up another job to make up for the cuts?
Jebus, Ray Charles coulda seen THIS coming.

Yesterday a friend started an email discussion about everyones thoughts after the election, with the exception of one person everyone included on the email list is very conservative/libratarian so for about a day we were having a “nice” discussion then the odd ball decided to chime in with some libtard hate that ended with this gem: “And don’t worry….. Obama will still let you go out a kill things. You’ll be ok….. I’ve always wondered…. Do you guys make love to your guns and ammo? They are rather phallic.” needless to say it didn’t go over with the vetrans populating the discussion. My boss laid out several beauties to the asshole.
Anyway I was on the phone with this turds sister in law, who was appalled at what he had said, and she informed me that he was working massive extra hours the last couple of months to hopefully avoid being laid off.
So it has now been my goal to cheerfully update “the group” with every layoff, closing and hours reduced story that has hit the news since Tuesday. So far the running total of jobs lost in the last 72 hours is WELL over 12,000 (which doesn’t include the Lockhead Martin layoffs coming reported to be in the thousands) Hopefully it will make his days a bit more stressful.

Katzmeow – if you have a group of people discussing something either apolitical or political but polite, the person who yanks their pee-pee out and slams it on the table is a liberal 99.9% of the time.
It’s a part of the illness, I guess.

Obama won the Catholic vote. Many Catholics follow their own conscience when it comes to birth control. I am hoping that the Catholic bishops follow their consciences.
Institutions are not considered “religious” if their primary mission is not religion and they serve people without regard to their religion. This means that Catholic schools, hospitals and charities will not be exempt from Obamacare mandates that violate church teachings. The bishops choice seem to be either to violate their beliefs, stop offering health benefits to their employees, only serve Catholics ( illegal for hospitals ) or shut down. Shutting down would have a devastating effect on inner cities.

geezerette(6): let’s joined the rest of the world in which the underground economy rivals the government reported economy. You can’t survive if you defy the government but the government can’t survive if you do not cooperate with it. Make then work for their loot!

Here in California we’ve just turned the keys to the state over to the looters and the freeloaders. (And the unions, but saying that is redundant.)
In surveys, executives regularly call California one of the country’s most toxic business environments and one of the least likely places to open or expand a new company.
. . .
from 1994 through 2008, the latest year for which data are available, California ranked 47th among the states in net jobs created through business relocation, losing 124,000 more jobs to other places than it gained from other places.
. . .
… CKE [Carl's, Jr, Hardee] has stopped opening restaurants in California, where the process can take up to two years because of regulations, and plans to open 300 in Texas, where a new place can debut in just six weeks.
