The European Union received the Nobel Peace Prize on Monday for “promoting peace and human rights in Europe following the devastation of World War II” … [more]
If by “European Union,” you meant “America by means of NATO, the Marshall Plan, US forces, and American taxpayers” then yeah. It was Truman, Eisenhower, and Marshall (and hundreds of thousands of Americans) who pulled those squabbling, murderous brats out of the rubble, dusted ‘em off, made ‘em blow their noses, told ‘em to kiss and make up, then grabbed ‘em all by the ears and marched ‘em to their rooms until they could play well with others. Not to mention, keeping them from being devoured by The Bear while they grew up.
That, you Nobelistanian jackasses, is why you can have nice things, today.
Of course, not everyone agrees with the award:
Srsly, dude. Who’s in charge over there?
Three Peace Prize laureates — South African Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Mairead Maguire of Northern Ireland, and Adolfo Perez Esquivel from Argentina — have demanded that prize money of $1.2 million not be paid this year. They said the bloc contradicts the values associated with the prize because it relies on military force to ensure security.
Who(m) do youuu think should’a won?
