maybe 15 years ago, when I still watched TV, I saw a documentary on the Detroit auto industry. The narrator, after explaining about the factory keeping 15% extra workers on hand because of absenteeism, stopped a line worker and asked “We’ve looked up your attendance record, and we were wondering – why do you average only four days a week here at work?
Reply – “Because I can’t make it on three days.”
^ Doesn’t change the fact that these people got their jobs back after drinking and smoking pot on the job. The job that manufactures products that can kill people if not assembled properly.

The time has come for people with intelligence to wake up and realize that Unions don’t give a fucking rats ass about anyone’s safety. All they care about is their paycheck and retirement wealth.

Freddie ( 10 )….we bought a new Jeep in 2000 that had me taking it to the dealership 6 times for a water leak before Chrysler bought it back from me a year later without signing a piece of paper or invoking the lemon law. We checked out the date/time of manufacture and it was a Friday. Someone started their week end early.
I thought you could only file bankrasspsy twice. Chrysler has already done that.
Look, Chrysler, you were a great company one day. If nothing else, you came-up with the Hemi engine. That right there was great, but you have to move on.
Currently? You suck. And I mean billions of dollars worth of suck. You suck. There’s just no getting around it. You’ve sucked since about 1966.
They did have a pretty neat little renaissance period there with the Viper and the Prowler.
But yeah, that’s done.
Back when Chrysler and GM took bailout money, it was easy for me to say I’d never buy from then again (stung previously with one from each). It didn’t bother me to say that, ’cause I liked Ford. In my family’s experience, they’ve proven very durable.
No more. After reading an article on how the various unions — teachers, public employees, ans the UAW — worked hard on voter turnout this last election, Ford is dead to me too. I won’t buy anything made by union workers.
My wife really likes her new Hyundai…….

#18, Accipiter: “Chrysler was good back when the engines had more liters than the workers assembling them.” I think Chrysler was good back in the heyday of Richard Petty driving Plymouths for NASCAR and engines were specified in cubic inches instead of liters (like the Plymouth “Road Runner” with its 440 cu. in. V8). And the problems with the Chrysler workers is not liters but half-pints, pints, and ounces (as in 40).
#2, Dick not-quite-dead-white-guy: I heard that in their latest contract, the unions got rid of the time clock. Instead, workers now sign the guest book.
