Just for Knowing

surprise!

I was chatting with a business pal who lives in CO t’other day. He allowed as to how Coloradoans — at least the ones he knows — are “pretty embarrassed” about the vote to legalize pot in that state…

I trumped him: the CA “raise the taxes on us pleeeease” law voted in by those enlightened and empathy advantaged sheeple in my state is retroactive — for all of 2012.
Ha!

That’s a little piece of that Half-Fast-Train-sustaining voter-action that even the opposition seems to have failed to notice. Even my CPA didn’t know until after the fact. “Whaaaaaat?!?!?

Another thing my CPA passed on to me is that accountants nationwide won’t be able to even begin to process tax returns until “some time in February.” And that’s if — IF — the Low-Achievers’ Club in DC manages to nail something down by the end of ’12. If they prolong the agony…

The accountants have to wait until the IRS updates its forms and then have their software re-programmed.

Didja know some states *require* e-filing? and e-payment?
just saying…

Yeah… I’m a bundle o’ joy, ain’t I?

    Yep, oh “bundle of joy.”
It’s like havin’ a couple’a drinks on a balmy evening sitting on a porch high up on some remote hillside with a sympathetic arm around you…
while watching the ending of Dr Strangelove unfolding below.

Here, let me add to your joy.

Owning your home outright is a loophole now, depriving the IRS revenue.

And that is why I live in Wyoming.

End federal deductions for state income tax. I refuse to subsidize people who continue to live in tax dungeons.

S2, your link goes to the Texas theater shooting. Are you talking about “imputed income”?

^PeggyU, Don’t you mean collecting the free loan you made to the gubmint for the last year?

I read that the resulting delay in sending out tax refunds (creating a reduction in funds for consumer spending in the first quarter) is enough to kick us back into recession all by itself.

^^^Yikes, i hadn’t considered that. The cost of reprogramming and lost time (and poor dead trees) while regs are being changed and rechanged is bad enough.
