pro tip: when the surgeon sez “wow, that was weird” it’s a GOOD thing apparently. When they say ” oh great” it’s bad.
Also, pus can be chunky.

BTDT–recently. No pain, no great infection, but I was headed there. So I didn’t get the “feeling better already.” My dentist stays ‘way ahead of the game and lets you think about it on things like that, after watching it for four months. (Plus I think he had a balloon payment coming up on the pickup.)
But get better soon HeadMissy. Seems like you’re catching everything but a break lately.

Yes, the root canal goes with the abscess – at least in my experience, it does! Can you imagine living in the 18th century and having to deal with this?
The first time I had a root canal I went in armed only with all the horror stories about them, and the best dental care my really bad insurance could afford. Which was a bare step above home carpentry.
So Dr. Strangelove messes around in my mouth with all sorts of shiny things for a while, then says “I’ll be right back” and leaves the room.
He said nothing about keeping my mouth open at all costs, come hell or high water. So I took that opportunity to close my mouth and relax my jaw, and bit down hard on the four goddamn pick drill things he’d left in the roots while he went to examine the X-Rays to see that they were all the way to the bottom of the nerve canals.
If they weren’t before he left, they certainly were after being slammed home by an upper molar.
One of them broke off so deep he couldn’t get the end of it out. It’s still in there, more than a decade later.
Good times.

I had one that boiled out the side of my lower jaw, the doc lanced it and the most nasty stuff flowed out. It was like getting my gonads out of a vise or passing a kidney stone it felt so good. The following root canal went on forever because, lucky me, I had a “accessory” nerve on one of the roots but even that was a piece of cake compared to the pain from the abscess.
Do what they tell you to get rid of it, mouth infections can lead to very bad things later if not taken care of.

So here’s the progression and why I waited…
A couple weeks before Christmas after a month or so of clenching and grinding from stress…I caught that respiratory bug. Pissed me off. Got over that ok and was hoping to get some sleep….then a week ago Sunday while eating I bit down, went through the roof and spent the next 4 days in agony with all the nerves of my upper left quadrant inflamed like Aurora Borealis. I have no time or energy to deal with this shit, it’s almost Christmas. So on Thursday when I couldn’t take it anymore and feared this getting worse while up in the middle of nowhere at The Asylum for 4 daze i made an emergency app for the dentist. Got in and he couldn’t find anything on xray and because all my teeth hurt couldn’t seem to locate the culprit. Gave me a prescription for Penicillin and Vicodin and a referral to an endo following Christmas. Yay Vicodin! Didn’t start the penicillin because I didn’t see any sign of infucktion but on Sat about 4 am I awoke to a double face and pain unlike anything other than the MRSA I had in my finger tip a few years back. panic….and started the Penicillin. It got a little worse then by Monday a little better and then better etc. On Wed I call dentist to tell them that yep, infucktion and now abscess but it’s better. Of course the office was closed but I figured the antibiotics were working and it didn’t hurt so bad so problem solved. yesterday am the hygienist who was in the office 1/2 day for messages etc calls and tells me to get my ass to endo. They fit me in and well….yea. I was pretty lucky I took care of this.
The. End.

Now that it’s better–and I don’t have to be afraid of scaring you 1/2 to death– that infuktion– could have gone to your brain or been a flesh eating bacteria and or (blood poisoning). Don’t ever do that again. You hear? No self diagnosis and No self medicating!! Promise? Had you not waited so long it would have been localized and they would have found it. The sinus infuktion was masking the tooth and was probably the start of it.

^ I was pretty freaked out myself! Saturday ass crack when i awoke to a double face and that pain, MRSA was the first thing I though of. I haven’t been taking very good care of myself lately and I know it…been so depressed and taking care of Rumsfeld but know that I’m no good to anyone if I’m sick or dead. On the upside, I had taken out steaks for dinner yesterday before i knew I had to have this procedure done and made them for dinner and ate one about 3 hours afterwards. So I’m pretty tough :)
Feel pretty great today but running around doing all the crap I’d put off has kicked my butt a bit. Fortunately, JR’s home for 4 days so I can make him do stuff :)
Thanks for being so concerned. It appears as tho everyone’s taking better care of me than I am………

You gotta get that Sisu up and ready for 2013–Like the rickn80r says, “That’s ’cause you’re the onliest HeadMissy we got”
