Huell Howser
If you’ve never seen California’s Gold or Road Trip, you can see his work here.
“We operate on the premise that TV isn’t brain surgery. People’s stories are what it’s all about,” says Howser. “If you have a good story, it doesn’t have to be overproduced. I want our stories to reveal the wonders of the human spirit and the richness of life in California, including its history, people, culture and natural wonders.”
Huell was truly a part ….of California’s Gold.

I’ve not seen this program but I’ll bet it’s a little like “On the Road with Charles Kuralt” which was my favorite show back then.
Only better…..
Only better is correct. His Enthusiasm was over the top on Everything. Always made me smile.
He sometimes got more than he expected in the way of “interesting stories”…
He died? No nothing on this thread saying that………..
Post is titled RIP!
Thank you Patrick.
He was an American Original. His shows run on PBS &c, and are definitely worth watching, if you can.
Look for some of his shows on YouTube. He donated all his shows to Chapman University (in So Cal), which may make them available online. He was one of the most likeable guys imaginable.
One of his memorable shows was where he went up a skyscraper – doing a story on window-washers. He went outside, and his cameraman went out there, too.
He worked in Nashville on Channel 4 in the 70s, always liked him.
