Prog Canon (morning reading: Chicago rules)

I don’t care if they’re licensed legal firearms, people who are not highly trained… putting guns in their hands is a recipe for disaster. So I’ll train our officers that there is a concealed carry law, but when somebody turns with a firearm in their hand the officer does not have an obligation to wait to get shot to return fire and we’re going to have tragedies as a result of that. I’m telling you right up front. [more]

Go read the article. The ass-kicking is delicious.
Yeah, the author has an ax to grind, but one could be forgiven for thinking he has a good reason.

The degree of incompetence and jackassery of Chicago politicians is astonishing.
It’s like a troupe of really, really bad summer-stock actors with a really, really bad script.*
Where’s that house-sized meteorite when you really need it?

* On the other hand, if David Lean did it, it could be a really, really great movie.

How does a sworn peace officer/fool that got drunk and shot out streetlights go on to become the Chief of Police??

I guess it’s because Chicago, the same place that just elected/administered the oath of office to 3 individuals that currently face criminal trials.

The idea that police are highly trained with firearms is a myth! The same is true for the armed forces. I was an infantry squad leader and have been a competive shooter in several disciplines for many years. Neither group are that much different in their skills and training than the active civilian firearms owner and are inferior to the average competive shooter.

    dear heart -
    Those that can, shoot competitively.
Those that can’t, spray and pray

This is how toy guns got banned or at least had to have the tip painted orange. Illustrated by Mayor Bloomers holding up one of the toy guns he wanted to ban because cops might mistake it for the real thing thing – a translucent-green water pistol shaped like a Buck Rogers ray gun…

Just watched some David Lean movie. It wasn’t Lawrence of Arabia. It was some other one. Spanking good movie though.

^ Bridge Over the River Kwai. Seen it a dozen times already, but it’s still a good watch. Sessue Hayakawa was in his finest form.

I see Lightshooter likes glitter and reminds me of Trumpka, both in appearance and bluster. Four stars is a bit much for a 12,000 person force. I think a US Inf Div runs 15,000 – 17,000 and is run by a two star who probably never shot out street lights.
In my day I outshot all the cops in our pistol league except the pistol instructor/rangemaster. He was an awesomely good shot.

This is the same sh!thead who made pandering speeches to groups of perpetually-aggrieved race-mongers about the importance of addressing the “root causes” (e.g., poverty, unemployment) of crime, not long after being appointed to his present position. Just one more reason that I refuse to visit Chicago for any reason.
