So the operative statement may be reduced to “the State shall take, the State shall give.”

    As to the from-each/to-each horror, I highly recommend this short story from Atlas Shrugged.

    It scares the crap out of progressives for people to be wise, self-determined and demand liberty. I like that. Their fear makes me stronger.
