If you don’t eat your meat, you can’t have any pudding, how can you have any pudding if you don’t eat your meat!

    Cough syrup and Skittles optional.

And how much of a kick-back did the company that makes that drink have to pay to get that approval?

It’s scams, all the way down …..

Reconfirming our belief: Big.gov isn’t about actually doing good, it’s about control.

Having never been involved with Food Stamps and such, I did not know what EBT stood for so I googled it, and discovered -

Cute dogs are now approving energy drinks. Who knew? Much better than incentivized* bureaucrats. I should get me one of those — the EBTs, I mean, not the bureaucrats.

EBT cards should be limited to bulk staples, produce/meat/fish, baby food, and cartons of MREs.

They need special rations, Doug, not MREs. Stuff that’s virtually free, but tastes horrible, so that people will do almost anything to avoid having to eat it.

We could start with ham and lima beans from old c-rats…

    Mayor Bloomberg must be apoplectic!

  8. Posted October 21, 2014 at 2:48 pm |

Maybe the rationale is that if they can get these energy drinks for free, they will have so much energy they will sprint out and get jobs and then they will get OFF of the EBT cards.

I know, i know….back to bed for me and continue with more of the big yellow pills…..

Terrorsts don’t need a nuclear weapon, or EMP (same thing pretty much) to wipe out the United States.

All they need to do is hack and cripple the EBT system so cards can’t be used.

The resulting riots and chaos would bring America to it’s end very quickly.

^ That’s the one thing TPTB will fund above all else. What’s the old saying; 3 meals away from a revolution?

I have a family member who works in a grocery store, and he is
frequently telling me about the steak and lobster that many EBT card holders buy. While he lives on staples and such.

All you need to do is live near and shop at the same grocery as a large section 8 apartment complex, Joe.

I see it every time I’m there.
Obviously VERY well fed women and their packs of unbehaved meal tickets, carts full of junk food and expensive meat.
Quite often, she’s rolling her fat @$$ around in a wall-e cart, getting it even fatter.
The ones that have cars usually park in the fire lane or handicapped spaces, the ones that don’t, leave the carts at the bus stop. (free bus passes are yet another item we working folk provide)

At my local gas and food emporium, I notice the buyers of energy drinks usually buy lottery tickets and a 40 oz Colt 45 at the same time.
    The liv basic food groups.

^11: I also work for a major grocery chain in the southwest, and I can confirm the stories about the abuses of the EBT system. I’ve seen them.

Worst of all came when the gummint decided that the holders of these cards could access all or part of their funds in cash, making it oh-so-much easier to purchase their “entertainment” (drugs, booze, etc.,) without fear of embarrassment from the local law.

So if the Republicans win the Senate and retain the House, will they initiate legislation to rein in abuses of the EBT-related federal grants? How about after the next presidential election (if they retain both houses and also win the executive)?

The Republicans, when they controlled everything, could have reduced the effects of the housing bubble by shutting down the well-known funneling of bad subprime loans through Fannie Mae, but they didn’t because they were afraid of the race card being thrown.

The genesis of the Tea Party was the failure of Republicans to do a damned thing to reverse the lockstep march to bankrupt socialism.
