and the Unsaid Preconception of The Day

You remember back thru the mists of bs time the whole Beergate, The Police Believed Stupidly kerfluffle? and the Professssor in question, Henry Louis Gates Jr? [“PBS and Harvard scholar Henry Louis Gates”]

Yeah…

Well, he got a TV show, about tracing Roots which celebraateees are pleased to go on and be told about their ancestry thru DNA tests, record searches, etc.

Speaking of behaving stupidly, Ben Affwack went on that show and was abashed, disconcerted and humiliated to discover he had a slave-owning ancestor.

Wikileaks got hold of the emails from the show in the ginormous pile it ….liberated from Sony.

Predictably…

[email from Gates to (Sony Pictures co-chairman and chief executive Michael) Lynton]

“Here’s my dilemma: confidentially, for the first time, one of our guests has asked us to edit out something about one of his ancestors — the fact that he owned slaves. Now, four or five of our guests this season descend from slave owners, including Ken Burns [and Andy Cooper]. We’ve never had anyone ever try to censor or edit what we found. He’s a megastar. What do we do?” …”I think he is getting very bad advice”

What did he respond?

“I would take it out if no one knows, but if it gets out that you are editing the material based on this kind of sensitivity then it gets tricky. Again, all things being equal I would definitely take it out,” Lynton wrote

oopsie.

[Gates] “[if the public learned of it] It would embarrass him and compromise our integrity. I think he is getting very bad advice” … “Once we open the door to censorship, we lose control of the brand.”

So, what did they do?

“we decided to go with the story we used about his fascinating ancestor who became on occultist following the Civil War. This guy’s story was totally unusual: we had never discovered someone like him before,” … and Affleck’s mother, who was a “freedom rider” in 1964.

wow. come for the schadenfreude, stay for the ignorance.

Because of Course — according to Proggie Logyk — you bear all responsibility for everything all people did before you were born. Cuz everything in all of History is all about YOUUUUU.

Right?

Also, the only slavery that really counts is the 89 years that happened in the US. Not that throughout thousands of years of Human History. Not that which was practiced on this continent by those here before Euro-Americans. Not that currently being practiced all over the world. Not that currently being practiced in the US but re-named “Human Trafficking.”

The only slavery that matters is that practiced by Ben Affwack’s ancestors.

Speaking of taking bad advice…

After being caught out, Affwack apologized … on F/B

Not for the kids.

…or anyone with a low gag reflex

Director KEVIN SMITH is disturbed by BEN AFFLECK’s habit of resting his scrotum on the back of people’s necks between film shoots.

The Hollywood director was horrified during the filming of the 2004 movie JERSEY GIRL, because Affleck pulled his favourite prank, Fruit Basket, with disturbing regularity.

Smith tells MAXIM, “I’d be sitting in the director’s chair and I’d be watching a playback, and he’d stand behind me. Every once in a while I’d feel something on my neck. I’d be like, ‘What the f**k was that?’

“I’d turn around and he’d have his (scrotum) out and resting on my neck.

“I was like, ‘What the f**k is wrong with you, dude? What if it got out in the press that that’s the kind of thing you do?’

“He’s like, ‘No one would ever f**king believe you, sir.

He should’ve said, “What’s that have to do with me?”
One does not inherit guilt* any more than one inherits virtue**.

Evidently, these people have no real understanding of first principles, so they respond with cheap spin control. It’s all they know.

To burden following generations with the guilt of history is a vile assault on individual responsibility and liberty. There is no boundary to it, and it can be exploited for unsavory purposes (see: reparations).
It’s almost as bad as burdening following generations with the debts run-up by their spendthrift and profligate ancestors (see: national debt).

    (I’ll skip the Biblical stuff.)
** Not the same as inheriting genetic talent or wealth or freedom resulting from others’ valor.

Which is why it is such a prized activity among Proggies?

Ben Affleck testifies during the Senate …on “Diplomacy, Development, and National Security”
Is shooting a movie overseas and regularly flaunting one’s scrotum the desired expertise to testify before Congress?

No, of course not. It’s as an asshole and a hypocritical liar that Affleck is qualified to talk to Congress, who are mostly assholes and hypocritical liars.

BTW Bennie boy, either shave that stubble, grow a beard or actually walk up the Nile to the Mountains of the Moon, you semi stupid metrosexual pretender.

I don’t see what the fuss is all about. It’s not like HE owns slaves or anything. We no longer visit the sins of our grandfathers upon ourselves or even our sons.

However, I completely understand that this is something a liberal would get excited about.

“It is clear from the exchange how seriously Professor Gates takes editorial integrity,” PBS said in the statement posted on its website.

    Yes it is.

Fancy that! He’s ashamed of something that had nothing whatsoever to do with himself but he’s not embarrassed about slapping his nutsack on people……….

Yeah, but Progs think you do, which is why he’s all twitchy about it.

By the way, not supper impressed with his movies. Now there’s something he can feel proud about, or not: how well he does at pretending to be someone he’s not, as apposed to pretending to not have ancestors he does.

He’s gonna be sorry one fine day when he slaps his nutsack on the wrong somebody and that somebody spins around and slaps the crap out of his nutsack.

The only slavery that matters is that which is going on today, and that which can be prevented in the future, but we’re doing nothing about that. My children are having heavy weights bound to them by slavemasters in Washington, DC. The islamic world, meanwhile, has no problem with slaves TODAY …and our media and government gives them a pass.

^^ Someone who knows how should fake up a movie proposal to send to his agent for him to *star* as Simon Legree in a new, more graphic remake of Uncle Tom’s Cabin.

(If the proposal has legs, Doug can always make the movie poster….)
