Here’s a loverly predicament

sound at all familiar?

The Chunnel is under attack from “miiiigrants.”

some 2,000 migrants broke through fencing at the Calais railhead in an attempt to reach shuttles carrying cars and lorries to Britain on Monday night [7/27/15].

…Some 3,000 people, largely from Ethiopia, Sudan and Afghanistan, are camped in Calais in the hope of reaching Britain, according to an official count conducted at the beginning of July.

…Eurotunnel chief executive Jacques Gounon described the situation at the Calais rail-head as like a “massive systematic invasion” that was nonetheless “organised” by migrants seeking to reach Britain every night.

…Eurotunnel has revealed its staff has blocked more than 37,000 people attempting to cross into the UK this year.

This is happening so much that they even have a name for the traffic back-up on the England side of the Chunnel.

Kent Police has confirmed that Operation Stack – where HGVs [Heavy Goods Vehicle, or ‘trucks’] are queued on sections of the motorway to avoid gridlock on the county’s roads – remains in place on the M20 this morning.

Operation Stack has been in force on the M20, on and off, for weeks …Stack has led to sections of the M20 being turned into an HGV park for up to 5,000 lorries

…The Freight Transport Association last week said that Britain’s haulage industry was losing £750,000 a day because of the problems lorry drivers have faced this summer trying to cross the Channel.

For several weeks, there have been many attempts by migrants to enter the Eurotunnel premises in Calais, with the numbers growing significantly in recent days. [July 27] the ”biggest incursion effort in the past month-and-a-half“.

4,000 – Estimated migrants currently camped out around Calais
100-150 – Migrants who arrive in Calais every day

700 – Migrants from Calais granted asylum in France last year
1,200 – Migrants from Calais deported from France last year
21 miles – Distance between Dover and Calais
£12 million – The amount Britain has spent reinforcing borders in Calais
18,170 – Stowaways attempting to get to Britain between January 1 and May 21 2015
160 million euro (£113 million) — Calais; physical resources – fences, cameras, infra-red detectors – and personnel

…between 12am and 6am. …”The migrants are entering in little groups, finding holes all along the 22 kilometres (13.6 miles) of the boundary fence and heading towards the platforms.”

”…you are on your own trying to get through and you’ve got 20 migrants around your truck trying to get on, and you’re on your own trying to get them off.

…”You can’t confront them. They carry knives. All you can do is stay in the lorry, lock the cab up and let them get on with it. …”

…”They are intimidating, some of them have metal bars, knives and, in one incident, a gun was pointed at a trucker. …I think things are beginning to boil over.”

…Nigel Farage calling the crisis at Calais a “disaster” … as he describes how he was surrounded by migrants recently when he was at the Eurotunnel terminal with people trying to get into his car…

Natacha Bouchart, mayor of Calais, … said Britain was “attracting” migrants as it had a “much more favourable” benefits system.

“You have a much more favourable regime in Britain than in other European countries,” the mayor said. “The weekly benefits of £36 that are given to asylum seekers or migrants, which is a huge amount for people who have nothing in their lives,”

Jabba [27], a tour guide, Mohammed [27], a trained doctor and Ahmed [35], a carpenter.

They said to me they had been among the people trying to get into the terminal last night

Jabba said: ‘Last night there was a gate open so we went through. There were about 200 in my group, but I felt there was no chance so after a couple of hours I left again. In the morning the police chased us out with pepper gas.’

“Then I asked him ‘will you try again?’ and he said: ‘Of course, we will try again every night.’ They said live in a tent in the ‘new jungle’ a few miles from Calais and have been about three weeks.

“When I met them they were returning from an Aldi supermarket with provisions for the wait.”

…Tim Farron, the leader of the Liberal Democrats, has described the situation in Calais as “primarily a humanitarian one” as he says Britain must “accept our fair share of refugees”. …”We must not lose sight of how desperate someone has to be to cling to the bottom of a lorry in a bid to get a better life.”

And your countrymen, Timmy?

Kevin Dryland, 55, who owns the Potten Farm shop in Sellindge, near Ashford, said the cross-Channel problems were having a devastating effect on small village businesses like his.

“The problem is with the constant closure of the M20, which then forces traffic to use the A20, which in turn causes gridlock in all the surrounding villages.
“All of the locals who us businesses rely on don’t come out because of the gridlocked roads. We are a farm shop, so a lot of our produce ends up as waste.”

Here’s an idea:

Kevin Hurley, a former head of Scotlan[d] Yard’s counter terrorism branch and the police and crime commissioner for Surrey, has called for Gurkha soldiers based at Shorncliffe barracks in Folkestone to be deployed to protect Britain’s border:

Quote I am increasingly frustrated by the huge numbers of illegal migrants who jump out of the backs of lorries at the first truck stop – Cobham Services in Surrey – and disappear into our countryside. There were 100 in the last month alone.

“With ongoing cuts to police funding, year on year, it is hard enough to maintain regular policing, let alone the new demands around child sexual exploitation, cyber crime and domestic abuse, without also having to deal with desperate, homeless and penniless migrants as well.

“Of course, I realise that the root cause of this tragic migration is the appalling environments these people leave behind.

“They take enormous risks because they can see no other alternative. But, while the UK and French governments decide their next prevention strategy we, the British police, have to deal with the immediate problem.

“The Gurkhas are a highly respected and competent force, and are just around the corner. They could help to ensure that our border is not breached.”

I’ve run out of time for today but questions linger;

Where’d they all come from?
How did they get from there to there?
Were they helped? [4,160mi. Afghanistan to England :: 6,282 mi Somalia to England]

How many stopped along the way? Where?
How many more are coming? When? How?
Why all this “migration” now?

Who didn’t see this coming and made no provisions for it?
Whyinhell not?!?
Whatinhell to do now?

Da Trump said we ought to “remove” all illegal aliens from our country.

Slight problem. Imagine the logistics necessary to round up 11-35 million people: nation-wide house-to-house searches by armed cop/military-type personnel, random stops asking for “your papers,” those sought — and many natural-born of Icelandic or Irish or Canadian ancestry — fighting back. Yeah. That’ll go well.

Now that on a world basis?!?

Talk about yer Clash of Civilizatiions…

The black man wants what the white man has built because the black man is incapable of building it. If he could build it then Africa would have New York and America would have the Serengeti.

He is also incapable of running it after it’s built. Case in point, 65% black Baltimore which is also black run. Baltimore is a microcosm of what is known as Black Run America.

Hold in to your hats white Europeans, and white Americans. It’s gonna get more than bumpy. Black “leaders” simply fan the flames of the fires in our cities while the sane blacks (they are there, God bless them) have their voices drowned out.

And now it’s coming to you wherever you live, in the form of the Obama Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing Rule.

It will come, don’t doubt me. When it does will your children and grandchildren be ready.

£12 million – The amount Britain has spent reinforcing borders in Calais.
    Ummmm…isn’t Calais in France?
    WTF are the French doing?
It sounds cruel, but the French must round them up and ship them to Somalia or anyplace they can be put ashore.
There are no doubt at least two or three billion people who would like to live in England or the United States.
Two or three billion people who are largely illiterate, unskilled, unsocialized to modern Western civilization, and 90% of them would be a burden on their new locale for at least a generation, more if the welfare breeding welfare model holds.
As to Trump’s suggestion, start somewhere. Ike did it with one tenth the manpower by rounding up and shipping out about 300,000 illegals and two-three million more self-deported.
Scale it up, and put severe penalties on those who hire illegals.

Once that’s rolling, seal the borders, then offer green cards to those who can prove they were employed by the same employer more than, say, one year, indicating reliability, work ethic and stability.
Stop the anchor baby bullshit. Just because you squirt a baby while ‘visiting’ your sister in San Diego doesn’t give US citizenship to the kid. That should only apply to kids of naturalized American citizens, not some illegal or casual visitor’s droppings.

    See: Vikings, Normans, and Lebensraum.

Hellholes attached to modern mass transportation systems.
    Should’a seen that comin’.

I remember when the Brits debated building the Chunnel.
The main concern was that it would provide a land bridge for Eurovermin, i.e. mice, rats, rabies.

It’ll be interesting to see what happens when late Autumn and Winter roll in.

I think we should send them a Statue of Liberty.

Some one is making this possible– the same as the train loads that came here— they walk out of their homes and say I’m going to England and away they go??? There you go my children on your way now to America??? We know where the end is where does it start and how???

Dave (2) hits the nail on the head. Here’s a list of IQs by country – notice that of the bottom 45 (discounting the NORKs), 37 are in Africa and 8 are in the Caribbean. And none of them has an average IQ over 80.

There are exceptions to every rule (as Dave says). But in general, the experience of the last few decades proves that there are differences between races and cultures that are just unbridgeable, and hence those races and cultures should (for the most part) be kept apart. This current situation will – absolutely will – result in bloodshed. And the longer the authorities delay taking proper action, the greater the bloodshed will be. (And let us pray that the people responsible for this cock-up are among those doing the shedding.)

As to stopping the tidal wave of invaders into Europe (and that’s what they are – invaders), I’d say one sure-fire way of getting the message of “don’t come to Europe” across would be to start sinking boats of invaders with all hands. Can’t see any Euro-weenies having the huevos to do that, so a precursor could be to simply sail up to any number of Libyan ports and start lobbing shells into the harbour. Once everyone high-tails it out of there, just sink every sea-worth vessel in sight, and move on to the next port. THEN tell them they WILL be sunk if they head north.

(And thank you Madame Clinton, for turning Libya into a totally failed state and ISIS satrapy. Well done.)

The issue has nothing to do with comparative abilities IMO. The issue is large groups of “Migrants” moving in with no intention to assimilate whatsoever, solely to collect free stuff and/or wage Jihad/Reconquista/etc.

Personally, I’m in favor of open borders and closed welfare offices. But immigrants should come because they want a new life in their adopted free country, not because they want to loot and conquer.

    “Ummmm…isn’t Calais in France?”

Yes it is, and the border is too. Goods and people using the to Britain tunnel are inspected, visa’d, and so forth on the French side, by British Customs. That way, those who shouldn’t get in are still in France when they are turned away rather than in England where they would have to be deported, with all the procedural rights and costs that entails.

Same thing going the other way, French border protection is in England.

Sensible, really- “You can’t come in” is LOTS easier than “You have to leave at our expense after some hearings and free lawyers”.

    1) Border control is a necessity; but notice that it only reduces the flow. Western democracies don’t employ lethal force to protect their boarders, so there’s only so much control can do. If the Brits can’t even control their tunnel, how impregnable would our southern boarder fence be if we build an patrolled one? It would reduce the flow, but that brings me to point #2….

    2) You’ve ***got*** to quit handing out goodies to fence jumpers. This form of idiot compassion will eventually destroy any society that has it.

    3) Just as an aside, the EU’s effectively useless transnational immigration control is a disaster. None of those people should have even made it to France in the first place. When you have governments unwilling to shoulder their responsibilities, being in partnership with them is a guaranteed lousing proposition. (e.g., Greece has been more than an economic disaster for the EU; it’s been the place terrorists go to get other places for decades.)

    logdogsmith 14: interesting link.

Notice that the latest waves of refuges are a direct result of the Obama/H-> Middle East policy, just like the waves of refuges from North Africa into Italy. Here’s a perfect example of (presumably) unintended consequences from dumbshit ideas by people who don’t have a clue*

There’ll be yet more consequences from this, and from the useless attempts to make bad plans look good.

On the list of border accouterments, I failed to see remote operated machine guns. (Automated MGs would just be inhumane, plus you can’t charge for the remote gamers to operate them.)

Anyway, my first thought about the trucks was pepper flavored steam jets for the trucks to drive over to get to the train. And multiple fences with hungry critters roaming in between. Even start rumors of killer bees along the fences.

As long as leaders don’t see a clear and present danger in these invasions of illegal migrants and man up accordingly, the countries will eventually be overrun. Like US.

“what do the French do after the Brits reject the invaders?”

Nothing. The rejected walk out of the building and try to sneak through, or try again openly with a ticket and new fake papers tomorrow.

The French have the same problem we do, the same problem free wlefare and benefits bring, although on a noticeably smaller scale. It’s just not practical to deport many illegals, and they can’t very well shoot them and leave them in a ditch.

    So, bienvenue en France.

When people are willing to pay everything they can get, endure utter privation, risk robbery, injury, rape, and death to get across a border, how do you stop them?

What can we give them that is worse than the journey, never mind worse than staying in Sudan or Chiapas? If I were dealt the hand the invaders have, I’d try too.

Aside from a bullet, everything we have is a reward. I worked with Marielitos in prison- even indefinite Federal prison detention was better than going back.

Since we can’t/won’t deter, the other option is to remove the benefit of coming here. And even though removing the bounty of benefits would help a little, just being here is the main reward. The most degraded rung on the Western ladder- prostitute, beggar, stoop laborer- still beats the hell out of the riginal situation back home.

^This is the irresistible force meeting the immovable object then. This is a lurch downward punctuating the gradual descent of civilization; first to fall – the periphery – then the core; first consuming waning surplus, then the seed corn. Goodbye, Western Civilization. Undefended borders aren’t borders.

The French cannot stop them because of the Schengen accord…no way to stop them unless the French LEAVE the Euro union……but they pretty much stopped the benefits…England is another story, they are INVITING the parasites. And belly aching the french are not spending a huge fortune chasing the vampires and expelling them…of course, the limeys would be the first to complain…damned if you do or if you dont.
I just hope they dont hear about Canada…I get $900 a month as pension, but immigrants all get $3,000 a month…in our so-called “conservative” country…
