COP21

*cough*sniffle*[yeah - still at it…]

”[island nations’ ] population are amongst the most vulnerable to the ravages of climate change,” the president said after meeting with several of the island nation leaders on the second day of an international climate change conference. … “I am an island boy.” [*cough*]

Some of their nations could disappear entirely [tip over and sink??!?!?] and as weather patterns change, we might deal with tens of millions of climate refugees in the Asia Pacific region,”

Like the “island” he is from in Indonesia…

Obama did not alter the administration’s opposition to “loss and damage” payments from major economies based on historical emissions, and he did not budge on island nation demands that the world aim to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius instead of 2 degrees. [those maths iz left to those with brainz *sniffle*]

Studying cave stalactites and stalagmites in Siberia, scientists found that at about 1.5 degrees Celsius the Siberian permafrost melts, potentially releasing a greenhouse gas bomb of 1,000 giga-tonnes, according to some experts.

Also creating lots and lots of fertile farmland?
Wherein Climate Refugees™ could thrive?
As opposed to downtown LA, Boise, Paris, etc…?

[Obama did] said, however, that the United States would support the island nations, and the administration on Monday said it would give $52 million to the world’s poorest nations to deal with climate change impacts.

Which “climate change impacts™” are, as of today, Zero. Zip. Nada.

Which moneys they will use to increase their standard of living which will … create improved technology which will … need moar power plants. So…. [maybe it’s the cold still in my brain but… this is confusing… seems like the stated agenda is not the actual agenda… still …]

“These nations are not the most populous nations. They don’t have big armies,” Obama said. “But they have a right to dignity and sense of place . . . and their voice is vital in making sure that the climate agreement that emerges here in Paris in not just serving the interest of the most powerful.”

”serving the interest of the most powerful” it certainly is not.
…depending on how ya define “the most powerful”…

So they’re still selling the idea [even if it were happening] that any slight variation from the weather of recent history [100-150 years] is D00ooom. Even if it means more farmlands.

There are people in every time and every land who want to stop history in its tracks. They fear the future, mistrust the present, and invoke the security of the comfortable past which, in fact, never existed.

    But then,
Obama insults everybody who isn’t him.

^I read the beeps stopped 11 minutes into Captain Bullshit’s 14 minute drone of lies.
No doubt daggers from the eyes of the Lord of Lies killed the offending (How dare he!) beep operator. “The rules are for thee, not for Me”, thought Buraq, Sultan of Insultus.
Anybody with courage would have turned off the mic. Or the teleprompter – hee hee, wouldn’t that be precious?
    “Uhhhh… annnnnd….I….uhhhhh….”

BTW, we’re $19 trillion in debt. Where’s Buraq going to get $52 million for island nations?
Parking his airplane and eating at the White Rainbow House for a few weeks might do it.

Even if it means more farmlands.

Claire, I guess the Canadians get their winter season food from Mexico and Southern California, but that will stop soon because all the Mexicans will be in the US and California is out of water. Maybe Canadian farmers and their customers might appreciate a few more weeks of growing season.

I think it would be a boon for Gaia if the islands went under water. Just think — all those abandoned buildings on the islands would become natural reefs, and home to all sorts of fishes. Doubleplus good!!

And think of the tourism dollars gleaned from all the new snorkelers who pay to see them fishies!

I don’t suppose they consider the effects of how slo-o-o-o-o-owly those gigatons get released.
