Keepin’ It Real

Mike Rowe nails it

None of the freedoms spelled out in our Constitution were put there so people could cast uninformed ballots out of some misplaced sense of civic duty brought on by a celebrity guilt-trip.

…Remember – there’s nothing virtuous or patriotic about voting just for the sake of voting, and the next time someone tells you otherwise, do me a favor – ask them who they’re voting for. Then tell them you’re voting for their opponent. Then, see if they’ll give you a ride to the polls.

    We need a new cabinet post, Secretary of Reality;
    and Rowe should get a lifetime appointment.

    I’ve long said, “If you don’t care, don’t vote.”

    This year, I don’t care.

    ^ Correct. Given that “None of the Above” isn’t available as an option, then not voting in favour of anyone is a perfectly legitimate exercise of the franchise.

    ^ If a majority was required to be elected, perhaps;
    but, if nothing else, my vote negates some dead Democrat’s vote.
