…2015 marked the deadliest year on American roads since 2008 …17,775 [deaths]…

The Obama administration on Wednesday committed to a goal of eliminating traffic deaths within 30 years, setting a timeline for the first time on an ambitious agenda that relies heavily on the auto industry’s development of self-driving cars.

The source code that powers the “Internet of Things” (IoT) botnet responsible for launching the historically large distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack against KrebsOnSecurity last month has been publicly released, virtually guaranteeing that the Internet will soon be flooded with attacks from many new botnets powered by insecure routers, IP cameras, digital video recorders and other easily hackable devices.

That oughta work like a dream!

Using studies published since 1999, the researchers calculated a mean rate of death from medical error. Then they applied this rate to the yearly number of hospital admissions. In this way, they estimated that an average of 251,454 deaths per year in the United States are caused by medical error.

Yep — a dream…

“More than two years after the Phoenix VA Health Care System became ground zero for VA’s wait-time scandal, many of its original problems remain, and this report is proof of that sad fact,” said Rep. Jeff Miller, R-Fla., chairman of the U.S. House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs. “Although the report’s extensive use of confusing bureaucratic parlance makes digesting the IG’s findings a tedious chore, it’s clear veterans are still dying while waiting for care … and the work environment in Phoenix is marred by confusion and dysfunction.”

Too bad there isn’t some way for the gov’t to test the skill and mental stability of drivers and issue some kind of, ohhh, I dunno… a license or something.
Hey, I know, let the BATF do it.

    Security like a steel colander.

    I feel safer already.

With the bigger bumpers on order for the truck.

Maybe I’ll rebuild the ’65 F100 in my Dad’s back yard.

“The Obama Administration committed to eliminating traffic deaths within 30 years. ”
Surely he isn’t planning to still be president for that long.
    And don’t call me Shirley.

…eliminating traffic deaths…The Obama statist Utopian assholes’ administration on Wednesday committed to a goal of development of self-driving cars.

Here’s a self-driving airplane (fly by wire) with no traffic to contend with.
    Now, with a computer-controlled, self-driving car in heavy traffic, what could possibly go wrong… click… go wrong… click… go wrong… click…

So, that elimination of traffic deaths goal – set by the same people who want cars to get 54 mpg by 2025?
