Safe spaces are neither safe nor free

I hope the students, faculty, and administrators paid attention to today’s lesson;
because it will be on the test

At least one thousand veterans gathered in Amherst this afternoon to protest the removal of the American flag at Hampshire College. 22news spoke to protesters about why they strongly disagreed with the college’s decision.

Freedom is not free. That’s the lesson that hundreds of veterans, their families and friends and other local residents hoped to teach students at Hampshire College Sunday afternoon.

Jerry Maguire, Veteran said, “They took down my flag, they have a right to that, I’m here to defend their right to do that but I want them to understand how bad that hurts me.”

Hundreds gathered to show their support of the American flag and what it stands for after the College removed the flag on campus earlier this week following the presidential election results. A decision by the college that outraged many. [story]

One shouldn’t be too eager to take down Old Glory…

…because sometimes it can be a real bitch to raise

I’m kind’a miffed at Trump for bringing back that old Hillary proposal to criminalize flag-burning.

Aaaand it’s over. Man, that didn’t take long.

    I’d be more impressed if a thousand vets had gathered, raised a new flag, dragged the college president out of his office, and told him that if the flag is brought down again, said president would be raised in its place.

    And in this instance, I really don’t give a shit if Amherst is private property or not. I’m thinking it gets taxpayer dollars – that makes it public enough.

    ^LotF – yup, the jackasses need to feel up close, personal consequences, otherwise, business as usual, because facts, law and logic are all shunted to the siding as they barrel down the track to their ill thought out Utopia.

    Personally, I think the ROTC guys should set up a roped-off perimeter with honor guard at the flag staff and man it while Old Glory waves.
    (What? Yes, of course bayonets.)

    I’m still stuck on the reasoning behind removing it in the first place.

    I hope I never happen upon a POS buring the flag.
    I don’t want to find out what I would do.
