ToDaZeD Word Salad

how to justify the unjustifiable

This is from the GAO Report to Congressional Requesters, April 2017, Countering Violent Extremism – Actions Needed to Define Strategy and Assess Proress of Federal Efforts:

Violent extremism — generally defined as supporting or committing violent acts to achieve political, ideological, religious, or social goals — has been perpetrated and promoted by a broad range of groups in the United States for decades. Such groups include white supremacists, anti- government groups, and groups with extreme views on abortion, animal rights, the environment, and federal ownership of public lands; and radical Islamist entities, such as the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), among others.

“extreme views on federal ownership of public lands”…. wow.
It’s “extremist” to disagree with making “parks” out of oil-rich lands to create a change in the world market [and thus, world politics]. …funny, that.

START [Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism] defines far right extremism as that which is motivated by a variety of far right ideologies and beliefs, generally favoring social hierarchy and seeking an idealized future favoring a particular group. [that sounds like Proggies to me; deciding who should be allowed to speak, what people ought to be allowed to think, who receives favored status and all...] Far right extremist groups include white supremacists and antigovernment militias, among others. START defines far left extremists as including those with extreme views on animal rights and the environment.

Yeah — that’s the extent of “extremist left views”: animal rights and the environment.

This appendix provides details on the violent extremist attacks in the United States based on the U.S. Extremist Crime Database (ECDB) data and as described in the background section of this report. Specifically, tables 1 and 2 show a description, date, location and number of victim fatalities for each far right and radical Islamist attack between September 12, 2001 and December 31, 2016. During this period, no persons in the United States were killed in attacks carried out by persons believed to be motivated by extremist environmental beliefs, extremist “animal liberation” beliefs, or extremist far left beliefs.

Far right violent extremist attackers are characterized by ECDB as having beliefs that include some or all of the following:

• Fiercely nationalistic (as opposed to universal and international in orientation);

Suspicious of centralized federal authority;

Reverent of individual liberty (especially right to own guns; be free of taxes);

• Belief in conspiracy theories that involve a grave threat to national sovereignty and/or personal liberty;

• Belief that one’s personal and/or national “way of life” is under attack and is either already lost or that the threat is imminent; and
• Belief in the need to be prepared for an attack either by participating in or supporting the need for paramilitary preparations and training or survivalism.

In addition, according to the ECDB, many persons having violent extreme far right views express support for some version of white supremacy, the Ku Klux Klan, and neo-Nazism.

Prove that last statement, fellas. And define “many”, plz. Hell — I demand you support and explain all your statements. We The People paid for this …study. I think we have the right to ask for some justification of these flat statements.

In addition, I find the idea that “reverence of Individual Liberty and the Right to Defend oneself” treated as an “extremist view” — here in the USofA — to be absurd in the extreme. In fact, I find it offensive.

Wasn’t suspicion of over-centralized federal authority, Your Majesty, what this Great Experiment was based on?

Whoinhell would buy that crappola but an uneducated, child with the of comprehension depth of a bumper-sticker?

Unfortunately this …study ended before the ANTIFA /BAMN outfits began their ‘work’ in earnest. …tho the blame ‘accountability’ might still be placed in the laps of the right wing instigators like Milo and Coulter…

Remember — the “far left” is described as persons believed to be motivated by extremist environmental beliefs and “animal rights” beliefs

Today, look what’s taking place in Portland OR.
yes, Portlandia.

Organizers of this Saturday’s 82nd Avenue of Roses Parade have canceled the event, fearing political violence.

…”Following threats of violence during the Parade by multiple groups planning to disrupt the event, 82nd Avenue of Roses Business Association can no longer guarantee the safety of our community and have made the difficult decision to cancel the Parade,”

OMG!!!1!!!!! There *are* “actual NAZIs!!!!!!111!!!!” in Portlandia!!!!1!!! Attacking a parade in honor of the city’s famous Roses.
[yeah - roses. the things with pretty, scented flowers and thorns.]

oh …wait…

 Someone—it’s unclear who—received an anonymous email from “” telling parade organizers that if they allowed “Trump supporters and 3% militia” to march, “we will have two hundred or more people rush into the parade into the middle and drag and push those people out as we will not give one inch to groups who espouse hatred toward lgbt, immigrants, people of color or others.”

… “You have seen how much power we have downtown [ref to the riots on Election Night?] and that the police cannot stop us from shutting down roads so please consider your decision wisely. Let us know your decision by tuesday by emailing back. We will also wheatpaste fliers across the march route naming sponsors and holding them accountable for backing an event with this type of rhetoric which may endanger future parades ability to get sponsors. [is this called “Being O’Reilly’d” yet?] We will also begin emailing groups who are participating in the march to inform them you are allowing a group of bigots to march in the parade.

…We promise there will be no harm to anyone but we will shut this down and prevent them from marching using nonviolent passive blocking of their movement”

When does a ‘promise’ of “no harm to anyone” and “we will shut this down” occur in any rational sentence?

aaand here comes the blaming/justification: “Jacob Bureros of the Direct Action Alliance sent the following statement to the press about the parade cancelation.”

We are disappointed that the Avenue of Roses Parade has been cancelled. As members of this community, we prize our neighborhood events and support events that promote community.

Known members of neo-nazi and anti immigrant hate groups planned to attend the group that was being hosted by the Multnomah County Republicans at the parade. We intended to stand between them and those who they wanted to intimidate. We intended to block out their hate and shut down their violence.

They want to march in a family parade and normalize a man who bragged about sexually assaulting women; they want to march in our diverse community and normalize a man who wants to ban Muslims and build a wall between us and our neighbor, Mexico. They want to march as the Republican Party, but in their ranks are groups like the “Bible Believers”, who have already come to this neighborhood to intimidate a local Latinex church and who were filmed assaulting an injured activist on the ground in Berkeley last week and were also filmed attacking a woman at PDX in January.

No Portland child will see a march in support of this fascist regime go unopposed.

We will always stand with [some of] our neighbors, we will always defend [carefully selected members of] our community.

Jeering and name-calling has proven insufficient: any support of the duly elected POTUS will be met with violence.

…and made-up allegations. I doubt they could support a tenth of the above with actual facts.

Defending Teh Chiiiildren™
against completely made-up “threats”™.

NOW!! with Exxtra Violence!!!!

    I’m going out on a limb here and say that this report was not commissioned, researched, or written during the current administration.

    Agreed^ ^

    There should be some letters written to POTUS to have those policies removed from the public and private playbooks. And anyone who protests such removal be removed from their position in the government (by the peeps and for the peeps).

    In addition, according to the ECDB, many persons having violent extreme far right views express support for some version of white supremacy, the Ku Klux Klan,

    In other words, they’re Democrats.

    Isn’t this just a new copy of that FBI report from 5-7 years back, the one where we all woke up one day to find out that the government considers us terrorists?
