Truth Matters

Now there’s a hashtag: #TruthMatters

Here’s a pair related stories.

First, the age-old question, “why can’t I find a date?!?” — Noo Version:

Alok and Jacob … Both are trans-identified, but belong somewhere in between genders, and they’ve amassed huge social media followings as gender nonbinary, femme, and fabulous human beings. They’ve become celebrities in their own right…

But if you think all that would land them a date, you’d be wrong. And nobody is more puzzled than me as to why such obvious catches are having dating problems when so many clamor for their attention.

Both have a five-o’clock shadow, high heels and lipstick, and [use] “they” as a pronoun.

Alok Vaid-Menon — dateless celebrity.

Yeah. Why, Oh! Why??!? can ‘they’ not find a date??!? How is that even possible??!?

It turns out … that while the LGBT community is increasingly accepting of people with such specific and niche professed identitiesno one really wants to bed them.

hm. Fancy that…
A question for The Ages, that is.

Meanwhile…

[Dr. Paul R. McHugh, the Distinguished Service Professor of Psychiatry at Johns Hopkins University], who was psychiatrist-in-chief at Johns Hopkins Hospital for 26 years, the medical institute that had initially pioneered sex-change surgery – and later ceased the practice – stressed that the cultural meme, or idea that “one’s sex is fluid and a matter of choice” is extremely damaging, especially to young people.

The idea that one’s sexuality is a feeling and not a biological fact “is doing much damage to families, adolescents, and children and should be confronted as an opinion without biological foundation wherever it emerges,”

whaaaaa????

However, there is plenty of evidence showing that “transgendering” is a “psychological rather than a biological matter,” said Dr. McHugh.

“In fact, gender dysphoria—the official psychiatric term for feeling oneself to be of the opposite sex—belongs in the family of similarly disordered assumptions about the body, such as anorexia nervosa and body dysmorphic disorder,” said McHugh.

“Its treatment should not be directed at the body as with surgery and hormones any more than one treats obesity-fearing anorexic patients with liposuction,” he said.

In fact, at Johns Hopkins, where they pioneered sex-change-surgery, “we demonstrated that the practice brought no important benefits,” said Dr. McHugh. “As a result, we stopped offering that form of treatment in the 1970s.”

In the 1970s. Forty years ago, they quit doing the sex change surgeries at the leading-edge medical center because “it brought no benefits.”

The most thorough follow-up of sex-reassigned people—extending over 30 years and conducted in Sweden, where the culture is strongly supportive of the transgendered—documents their lifelong mental unrest.”

In addition, it’s just not good nor healthy for any group — tall, short, gay, straight, *insert microscopically defined racial identity here*, old, young — to be identified as Special. Look at what happens when there is one Special kid in a family, or one Special person in a working group: they feel overly exposed, not a part of the whole group, and that extra expectations are put on them — which leads to resentments and anger. The rest of the members feel less important and ‘not as good as’ — which leads to resentments and anger. It becomes increasingly difficult to focus as individuals and as a group on the task at hand — whatever that might be — as it becomes all about individuals striving for a place within the group.

Members of an un-Special group can settle through the competition phase into their differences as skills emerge and they identify The One That Is Good At The Maths, and The One That Is Good At The Logistics, and The One That Is Good At The Building Things, and so on. When more Value is placed on The One That Is Teh Trans or The One That Is Teh Ghey or The One That Is Teh Black, all other skills and contributions are lost in the struggle for whose Special Group is more Important or Deserving of Special Treatment. Hard to get the hogs fed that way.

hm… what a way to drive people apart. …what a way to throw sand into the Engine of Production. …could even be called Social Monkey-Wrenching.

Finally, some words of wisdom for all who would challenge any of the Hawt Noo™ Ways Of Living and Special Protected Classes being pushed upon US by the Special Interest Groups ‘n’ Proggies [BIRM].

“But gird your loins if you would confront this matter,” warned Dr. McHugh.  “Hell hath no fury like a vested interest masquerading as a moral principle.”

I am ever trying to be the boy among the bystanders who points to what’s real,” said Dr. McHugh, who is also professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Johns Hopkins. “I do so not only because truth matters, but also because overlooked amid the hoopla—enhanced now by Bruce Jenner’s celebrity and Annie Leibovitz’s photography—stand many victims.”

    Y’know,
    if trans-gendered people won’t date trans-gendered people,
then the possibility of me having any sympathy is zeeerooo.

  8. Posted July 3, 2017 at 2:18 pm |

As I recall, there’s a dictionary entry for sympathy. It’s in there somewhere between “shit” and “syphilis”.

Sorry you brain twisted, foolish souls.
    You have a penis; you’re a man.
    You have a vagina; you’re a woman.
You can get an addadictomy, or an addapusstomy, but DNA says you’re still a man or a woman.
All those operations are good for is to keep you from bothering people by insisting on peeing in the wrong restroom.

Now shut up and quitcher bitchin; if your fugly and weird and fucked up in the head, they best you’re gonna get is a sympathy fuck.

I seem to recall a movie/TV trope where the police would pick up some dude in the street who was saying he talks to aliens or was the second coming of Christ or somesuch, and they’d cart him off to the psych ward for evaluation.

If the cops were feeling peckish, whenever they next encounter someone claiming to be transgender, they cart him/her/it off to the psych ward as obviously suffering from gender dysphoria delusions. Once placed in the tender mercies of the medical bureaucracy, they’d have to prove they’re in their right minds and not a threat to the general public. And if the bureaucrats were in a mood to play mind games, they’d set a high threshold for proof.

Hey, it’s a crazy world, and you gotta make up your own fun as you go along.

Wait, Claire, you’re saying actual skills mean more than gender and color? That having an actual marketable ability means something?

That there is no real meaning in “I feel, therefore I should be?”

Wow, I must sit down a think about this.

    Think, think, think, think….

Nah, back to baseball and some ice cream.
