Kim’s gambit

North Korea is seriously considering a plan to fire missiles at Guam, state media said Wednesday, hours after President Trump responded to reports of nuclear threats by saying the regime “will be met with fire, fury and frankly power, the likes of which the world has never seen before.”*

North Korea’s army said later that its missiles would create an “enveloping fire” around Guam. A ballistic missile operation unit for the regime will review a plan to fire a mid-range ballistic missile at the U.S. island territory on September 9, according to South Korea’s Yonhap News Agency.

[T]he Korean People’s Army [da NorKs] claimed it was looking into striking Guam to subdue the U.S. military bases there, particularly the Anderson Air Force base where nuclear-capable bombers are stationed. A different statement released said that North Korea “could carry out a pre-emptive operation if the United States showed signs of provocation,” Reuters reported. [story]

Sounds like a mission for a couple off missile-defense units…
followed by missions for the triad.

Personally, I’d try a few spec-ops and CIA wet-work teams, first, to liquidate that wacko before a lot of innocent people get killed.

Also, I don’t think he’ll go for Guam, now that they’ve named it. Nuking an unpopulated atoll, especially a previous nuke-test target like Bikini, would buffer political justification for retaliation in kind.

Oh, and don’t forget, Iran is watching this closely.
* Spoken in NorKspeak, so they don’t get bogged-down in subtle diplo-speak and miss the point and to disabuse them of the assumption that they’re dealing with the previous pussies. No, it’s not Reaganesque, but it may produce a similar result.
(What? Yeah, the word “brimstone” would have triggered me, too.)

The Thirties called: it wants its propaganda posters back.

Seems that Trump’s message may have been, to a large degree, intended to motivate China. I’d add Iran, too.
(What? No, prob’ly not Muller.)

Trump doubles-down. (A hush falls around the table. The bluff has been called.)

All this makes the Guam-independence case.

“Oh, and don’t forget, Iran is watching this closely.”

Damn, I forgot about them. I hope Trump and co didn’t. He goes soft on Kim, expect chaos on the middle east shortly there after.

Thanks clinton for selling the uranium and obama for doing NOTHING to these whack jobs when they started pushing him.

^ Don’t forget, Bubba Clintoon released the sale of missile guidance technology to China in exchange for cash contributions. See: Loral
China has been rich uncle to the Kim dynasty for decades. Guess where the Loral easter egg went.

Both Clintons should be tried for high crimes.
Buraq should have a meeting with the lamppost at Massachusetts and Belmont.

Doug, I like your 2nd reference. Your bet has a better chance of winning if you can see the other guys’ hands.

So what has ROK been doing all this time? Haven’t heard a peep about the South Koreans…

Plus, have we started Noncombatant Evacuation Operations for the US military family members there? No? That’s interesting.

DT needs to remember one Carter’s big mistakes. He made the Iranian debacle a personal thing and so every setback diminished him. DT must delegate NoKo to Tillerson or the JCS and simply stay above the fray. By responding to fat boy, he is elevating fat boy to the stature of the POTUS.

^ Yeah, but Carter cared about what “they” thought of him; and Reagan nailed him with it.
Since he sat down at the table, Trump’s been calling the bluffs of players who aren’t used to bein’ called.

Well, we need to get the military off Guam anyway, as Hank told us it could tip over due to all the weight….
