Full Circle

CalBezerekeley [Fiat Lux] is the “Home of Teh Free Speech Movement” — the point of which was to change the University’s rule disallowing on-campus advocacy of political causes or candidates and outside political speakers.

[full original]

Yep. One hundred fifty [150] [non-STEM] professors and a handful of grad students are calling for the entire ‘University” to shut down, all staff and students to “stay home” because of “Free Speech Week” wherein conservative, anti-snowflake statements might be made.

One hundred fifty [150] [non-STEM] professors out of 1,620 full-time and 500 part-time faculty members, so….

[The letter] calls upon faculty to take three steps: cancel classes and tell students to stay home; close buildings and departments and allow staff to stay home; and not penalize students who are afraid of coming to campus.

…According to [associate teaching professor of African American studies Michael] Cohen, most of the students in his African American Studies 27AC class are students of color. Cohen said he believed that for him to ask his students to be on campus during Free Speech Week was unethical and discriminatory.

…“People are coming to humiliate others and incite violence.”

…“We’re not afraid of Milo, Ann (Coulter) or Bannon’s words. We have a deep anxiety over the violence that their followers bring in response,” Cohen said.

Lookit alla them dang Alt-Rioters!

[I was gonna say "Lookit alla them dang NAZIs," but...]

So here we have one of the major Universities in the world consciously and intentionally creating actual mental/emotional illness* in a vulnerable percentage of their students using …facts at variance with Reality to incite fear of physical — and emotional — danger. Yes — “emotional danger”

*It is a mental/emotional illness to fear opinions different than those you have learned from your teachers/elders. It as once the goal of a university education to expose future adults to the ideas of the ages from many cultures and civilizations — many of which were bound to conflict with whatever ideas the student had encountered thus far — thus improving his ability to sort through and think about conflicting ideas and world views. This was once called “An Education.”

Now, “An Education” is the inculcated response to run screeeeming whimpering in fear from any idea different than Teh Approved Narrative.

C’mon in Barbarians! We’re almost ready!!

We have a deep anxiety over the violence that [the] followers [of a strong, independent woman and a gay legal alien] bring in response.

Kripes! How many boxes do you need to check these days?
Evidently, identity politics is not actually about the, you know, identities. Hunh, imagine that.

(What? No, evidently, I have not yet fiated the lux.)

I think it’s well past time to withhold federal funds from these academic insane asylums, also the various “sanctuary” areas.

Just stop the funding, and when someone sues, just drag it out for the five or 10 or 15 years until they’re broke or dead.

If a judge issues an injunction, ask him what executive power he has to back it up.

Use the left/dem tactics against them. Make them hurt.
