Gorilla Guru and Mother Nature repeat themselves

That proverbial “rainy day” thing

The bankrupt island, already contending with the aftermath of a storm that left as much as $1 billion of damage and hundreds of thousands still without power, faces even more upheaval with Hurricane Maria set to hit as soon as Tuesday night. [story]

Puerto Rico, already trying to dig itself out of a historic financial crisis, is now facing a direct hit by a major hurricane that could destroy any progress the U.S. territory has made under a year-old economic rehab plan ─ and set it back further. [story]

…and they’re not even at “future generations” yet.

Rule #1 for eating next year:
Don’t eat your seed corn.

Note: even ancient peoples used granaries and such to store a surplus to survive bad times.
That’s why there are now modern peoples… at least for now.

I was remiss in not including the Mexico earthquake.

We should have kicked Puerto Rico to the curb long ago.

I recall the Puerto Rican protests against the Vieques Naval Training Range in 1999 or such after a local was killed during a live fire exercise. They demanded the range, as a symbol of Yankee imperialism, be shut down. My feeling at the time was that a training range was a small price to pay for freeloading off the US, and if they didn’t want the range, then they should have their independence. Screw the notion of becoming the 51st state — cut them adrift entirely. Pour encourager les autres…..

Deficit spending is a tax on the unborn.

Someday, the kids will wise up, and tax the elderly to pay it off.

God is punishing Puerto Rico (and Mexico) for us electing Trump. Learned that from Jennifer Lawrence.
