Is this the way it’s gonna go?

“Power” of Teh Victim Class™

Lots of money is at stake here:
$20,000,000 annually* for Matt The Weasel Lauer
Today Show generates over $500 million per year.
This must be a Big Deal.

“Dear colleagues, on Monday night, we received a detailed complaint from a colleague about inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace by Matt Lauer,” [NBC News Chairman Andy] Lack’s statement read. “It represented, after serious review, a clear violation of our company’s standards. As a result, we’ve decided to terminate his employment.”

The statement said this is the first complaint regarding Lauer’s behavior the company has received “in the over 20 years he’s been at NBC News.”

Monday night… Wednesday morning… whaaa? 30 hours or so?
“Serious Review” :: 30 hours

Not that I ever liked Matt The Weasel Lauer, but whatinhell does “inappropriate sexual behavior” even mean?

Whatinhell could a man do that would cause a career-ending, public firing — for stated, but vague cause?

How do you investigate something like that …well, anything in 30 hours? Was he committing serial rape at gunpoint? That’s a police matter and likely would have been reported at the time. Worthy of summary firing.

But NBC decided this in-house and Lauer is not under arrest, so it can’t be a legal matter — right? Was it about minor perv moves over time? And this is the first complaint??

What happened to US? We’ve been told that the whole Sexual Revolution™ “freed” women to behave like the “sexual animals they are.” We’ve been told that the normal instinct for men to protect women and treat them with respect is insulting — to even open a door for a woman is a grievous insult tantamount to asking her to make you coffee and a sammich.

We’ve been told that it’s just a Societal Construct™ for men to require other men to behave in a respectful manner toward women — to protect their honor — and punch out those who transgressed.

Not allowing women the vote was a step too far in one direction: requiring women act like men in the sexual arena is a step too far in the other.

Now women are suddenly en masse seeking the protection of Society as they, by themselves, are [suddenly?] unable to handle being perved upon.

Whatever happened to the Old Fashioned Slap and a loud, cold statement of “Only my husband touches me there.”

Maybe she would be arrested for assault. Or maybe “modern” “men” would feel free to smack her back…

It seems to be quite difficult to function as a young woman today.

“I’m heartbroken for the brave colleague who came forward to tell her story and any other women who have their own stories to tell.”

…How do you reconcile your love for someone with the revelation that they have behaved badly?”

- Savannah Guthrie

I’m “heartbroken” for the loss of the Rule of Law, the Right to Face One’s Accuser, and Due Process. …and the loss of a very useful, life-affirming Social Construct™

Katie Couric straight-up said [in 2012, when asked about Matt's most annoying habit] Matt Lauer pinched her on the ass a lot during their 9-year run on the “Today” show.

I suspect the short answer is yes, this is the way it’s going to go. At least for the near future.

The way these various (supposedly) high-ranking mucky-mucks are being thrown overboard right now is pretty clear evidence that the deepest of the deep state/media/entertainment power brokers are really, really scared. They’re hearing some big footsteps coming their way, with evidence of stuff that we peons probably can’t even conceive of. And these Satan-serving bastards will do anything, and sacrifice anyone, to save their skins.

And no, they have never given a damn about either the rule of law or normal human relationships.

(Lotsa people looking at property in non-extradition countries, methinks…)

I think it’s due to the inherent chaos that comes from the overwhelming presence, these days, of neo-Marxist (the Frankfurt School) “critical theory” where everything previously normal is criticized; nice-sounding demanded alternatives don’t get vetted; and their consequences, no matter how bad, are enforced by “political correctness.”

I remember the original debates about “sexual harassment in the workplace” legislation (where the FedGov had jurisdiction). It wasn’t about bad manners, it was about the illegitimate use of male power in employment, advancement, and workplace culture to gain sexual favor or suppress female power. It was more about power than perversion or bad manners. [insert long list of other legislation/policy whose sales spiels are long forgotten]

I wholeheartedly agree that tying employment or advancement on willingness to engage in sex is blatantly wrong and possibly criminal (so is offering sex for consideration, but we’ll leave that for another essay).

Personally, as far as workplace relationships go, I draw the line between making a play in hopes of future gratification vs words/contact that are themselves gratification. Pass vs perv.

A fumbled pass is no-harm-no-foul, but grabassery is fifteen yards, and a demand for quid pro quo is either a mild form of rape or prostitution.

Yeah, the Age of Aquarius is over. It died in mass confusion on contact with competing fantasy world-views as well as with actual reality. The services’ old non-fraternization rules still apply. What’s old is new again.

If I had a daughter these days?
Dunno, but it’d probably include lessons on bein’ a lady, how to slap/punch/kick, and a bodycam.
Oh, and a PowerPoint lecture to all her boyfriends and a nice trip to the range for some watermelon fun.

It wasn’t a 30 hour investigation, it was two days of, ‘Oh shit. Can we keep hiding this or do we have to act?’

And while we’re on the subject of Mr Lauer, can anyone tell me why he or any other television meat puppet is worth $20 mil per year?
